An Animated Epic? Dante’s Inferno Anime Spin-off
Thursday 19 November 2009 @ 12:10 pm | By Sol 5 CommentsDue out in February in both Blu-ray and DVD formats, Dante’s Inferno: An Animated Epic is a collaborative effort by several studios to create “6 terrifying visions of Hell”. It looks fun, gory, and reminiscent of Le Chevalier D’Eon if I was having a bad acid trip.

Looking good there. I approve of these animated shorts collections that video game and movie companies fund. The quality of the works maybe uneven, but it is a joy in itself to see a lot of money pumped in to a cartoon that’s not meant for kids or filled with cute girls.
Agreed, cartoons can be made for all ages. I’ll be interested to see more as it’s released. This may be the cause as it’s testing the waters for a longer release. Although this all depends on the reception from audiences.
… this looks so losely-based, wich is considerable minus and so far, i don’t remember reading warfare in any part of the book.
I am half-convinced of this and feel kind of weary of the attempt to make something cinematic and violent in a way i feel was not purpoted.
May the best happen.
Wait, are there different versions or what?
just one.. and khaim is right… no warfare as i recall…
its more of a “themed” thing i believe… the divine comedy tells of Dante alive only in context.. as he is guided by Virgil through hell and purgatory….
no mention of a relationship with Beatrice is said if i remember well.. she is his guide through Heaven
Think of this as the X-men anime… its got nothing to do with the original source… just … “inspired”
doesnt make it bad.. just.. a new/different thing
*owns the divine comedy in a leather bound big ass book toO big to carry around in both Spanish and Italian – left and right page respectively with woodcuts by Doré and loves every word and image of it*
