Alien Swarm: The Free 4 Player Co-op Game From Valve
Tuesday 20 July 2010 @ 12:39 am | By Ivan 'Nahu' Lozano 2 CommentsOf course the big news of the day is that you got a new game today! No, I’m not talking about that fashion game for little girls you bought on discount, although really… what the hell is up with that? I’m talking about Alien Swarm, the game we all got for free today.
Originally a mod for Unreal Tournament 2004, Alien Swarm is a 4 player co-op top-down shooter. Valve hired the main developers of the mod some time ago and gave them freedom to work on this project while they worked on bigger Valve games. The game has been released for free along with the SDK and source code, making the modding potential pretty much limitless. Having only toyed with it for about an hour I can tell you It’s a really fun game, albeit small in content. The community will fix that though.
So if you have a Steam account just head over here and download it, if not then this might be the best reason to get into what’s quickly becoming the home for all of PC gaming. Also if you want to play with some of us we have a DDN group set up.
