I’ve been tracking this movie for a long time – mostly because of Shinichiro Watanabe. I am a big fan of the guy, and every single one of his movies that I’ve seen, and I am looking forward to his segment in Genius Party. You can expect this movie July this summer released in Japan. Here’s a list of the directors:
- “Genius Party” (Opening) by Atsuko Fukushima - “Shanghai Dragon” (was Space-Time Wars) by Shoji Kawamori - “Deathtic 4″ by Shinji Kimura - “Doorbell” by Yoji Fukuyama - “Limit Cycle” by Hideki Futamura - “Happy Machine” (was Dream Machine) by Masaaki Yuasa - “Baby Blue” by Shinichiro Watanabe
Not only is the man behind Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo contributing [Watanabe], but Shoji Kawamori, the creator behind The Vision of Escaflowne, Earth Girl Arjuna, Genesis of Aquarion, and nearly every chapter of the Macross series, is also in. w00t!
Sake Bomb! For those of us who haven’t ventured into a local college hub (most especially one in California) after finals or midterms, sake bombing has become a quite the phenomenon. Ever since this fun game has been introduced, Little Tokyo has become even busier during its after hours. With a shot glass, a mug of beer, and a bottle of this fine rice wine, the usually quiet sushi restaurants can easily turn into a night of fists slamming, people cheering, and liquor spilling.
Traditionally, a Sake Bomb is a drink made by pouring a shot of sake into a glass of beer. However, what’s really made the Sake Bomb popular is the ritual: a pair of chopsticks are placed parallel on top of a glass of beer with a shot glass of warm sake balanced on it. Then, curl your hands into fists, chant with your buddies (the generic chant is “Sake, sake, sake – BOMB!” but there’s no rule against making one for your group. I personally like to do a “Ichi! Ni! San!”), slam the table, and watch the shot glass drop into the beer! Quickly down the bomb, and then repeat! Any beer can be used, but Sapporo (or any Japanese beer for that matter) is the best way to go.
Now, go and use this newfound knowledge with your drinking buddies. Just don’t come back and comment on the post drunk. Wait, on second thought, please do.
