As of today,Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is available on the PAL Wii Virtual Console for a limited time, as a part of its Hanabi Festival promotion. There is currently no plans to release it in the US or have a similar promotion. Oh well, at least we have the Neo Geo Golf hit Neo Turf Masters! That’s even better, right? Right?
The PAL Wii Shop Channel occasionally holds a promotion known as Hanabi Festival, where rare NES, SNES, and N64 games, usually ones that did not have a previous release in Europe, are available for purchase for a limited time.

Every Monday I look at Nintendo’s Virtual Console releases. Sometimes I sigh in disappointment, sometimes I jump for joy, and other times I hadn’t even heard of the stuff they’re putting on there. Each time, though, I ask myself, “Why isn’t Super Mario RPG on this thing yet?” It looks like I won’t have to ask myself that anymore.
The classic SNES Squaresoft/Nintendo collaboration, Super Mario RPG: The Legend of the Seven Stars, is on its way to the Japanese virtual console in June. The game will cost 900 Wii Points as opposed to the typical 800 for SNES titles, but the extra 100 points is something I’d gladly shell out.
There’s little doubt of this coming to the US Virtual Console. Super Mario RPG was very well-received in its original release. The game has also been given an updated rating of E (for Everyone!) as of 2006 to replace the old Kids to Adults rating. All that’s left to do is wait.

Here’s a video of a group called the Mushroom Singdom, doing a review on a bunch of Virtual Console Games. Only instead of a rant, it breaks down into a song.
Interesting technique to be popularized in the future, or lame? You decide.

Are you desperately wondering if Sega Saturn games will ever come to the Wii Virtual Console? Then this rumor might let you have a good night’s sleep. Since Nintendo’s recent announcement that Neo-Geo and MSX games will be available on the Japanese Virtual Console, there are now even less retro systems up for grabs, giving Sega Saturn games a higher chance they will hit the Virtual Console. In fact a RumorReporter source claims to have heard confirmation of this from a DigiPen employee. For those who don’t know, the DigiPen building is right next to the Nintendo Of America building, so there could be some kind of information leaking going about.
Sega Saturn games? On my Wii? Talk about happy times. We can only hope this becomes a reality. . .and soon.
