Valkyria Chronicles In True Anime Form

The first episode of Valkyria Chronicles debuted in Japan and fansubbers Doremi has picked-up the project. If you haven’t played the PS3 game yet, you really should check it out; at the very least download the demo. The first episode seems to follow the in-game story really well, but I’m interested in your thoughts. Love it, hate it, sound off in the comments.

Hitoshi Sakimoto Talks Valkyria Chronicles’ OST

sakimoto-talks

Back when MTV and VH1 actually were about music, they would often interview artists and ask them what they thought about their music. In a similar fashion, Original Sound Version, a site dedicated to reviewing videogame, anime, and other nerdy forms of music, got a hold of Hitoshi Sakimoto himself and asked for his thoughts on their (and his) favorite tracks from the Valkyria Chronicles soundtrack.

See what Mr. Sakimoto has to say about his work here.

Review: Valkyria Chronicles

valkyria-box

As just about every gamer knows, this month is a rough month for the wallet and work ethic. Between Call of Duty: World at War, Gears of War 2, Mirror’s Edge, and Resistance 2, there’s enough out there to keep any first person shooter fan satiated until New Years. Thankfully, for the RPG fans there’s a little gem buried in the FPS sand, turned sideways and on the bottom shelf of Gamestop’s PS3 games section.

Valkyria Chronicles Silently Slid Up One Week

valkyria-chronicles-01-l

Earlier this month Valkyria Chronicles, the upcoming Strategy/RPG from SEGA, got the Pleasant Surprise Release Date Bump treatment in Europe, jumping from mid-November to October 31st. North American gamers, however, received no such similar announcement, leaving the release date at November 11th.

It seems, though, that SEGA has been quietly bumping up the release date for the North American launch. Sites like Gamestop and Amazon have changed their shipping dates from 11/11 to 11/4. No official word from SEGA, but the new date on numerous reputable store sites leads us to believe that North America is also getting the game earlier than expected.

Today the Valkyria Chronicles English-exclusive demo hit the North American and European Playstation Network Stores, either with Qore in NA or for free in Europe. Some early reviews of the Japanese version of the game have been giving it glowing reviews, but how does the demo stack up?

Valkyria Chronicles DLC Lets You Crush The Rebellion

valkyria

Valkyria Chronicles has been receiving a lot of love in the form of downloadable content since its release in Japan this summer. First it got an additional difficulty level which features you getting the snot bombed out of you every turn for a mere 200¥, and now SEGA has released a new pack for 800¥ which allows you to fight the Gallian War from the other side of the battlefield, playing as the invading country of Selvaria.

The new content will feature new cutscenes, voice acting, and battlefields as you fight to claim what is rightfully(?) yours: The land of Gallia. Since Disgaea 3’s DLC is heading stateside at some point, we can expect this to be on the North American PSN at some point relatively soon after the release of the game in November.

Until then, you can check out the demo of Valkyria Chronicles in next week’s issue of Qore.
