blood: the last vampire live action gets a new trailer

Yet another trailer for the live action movie adaptation of Blood: The Last Vampire and the movie just keeps looking better each time. This trailer delves a bit more into the plot of the movie and while there are significant differences with the manga, the OVA and the anime series, there’s also quite a bit of reference to these original works. In fact there’s quite a few shots taken directly from the OVA.

The general public will most likely find it cheesy and juvenile but it also might just be the most faithful Hollywood anime adaptation in quite a while.

Versus XIII’s fantasy based on reality

The game looks great graphically. I get sick and tired of saying it whenever a Square Enix trailer drops, because it goes without saying and it’s stating the obvious. But it’s something you have to throw out there none-the-less. Final Fantasy Versus XIII is a pretty looking game!

The whole thing is wreaking of Kingdom Hearts so far. I know the same team is behind this game, but damn! This whole trailer just stunk of Kingdom Hearts. The kakkoi boys with their over done hair do’s, puny arms and big feet. The main man wielding crazy blades looking like a member of Organization XIII. The girl who looks like she shares fashion tips from Naminé. And also the main characters names having dual meanings with things related to the earth ‘n shit: Kindgom Hearts – ‘Sora’, ‘Kairi’ and ‘Riku’ meaning sky, sea and land respectively. Versus XIII – ‘Noctis’ and ‘Stella’ meaning Night and star. Real original.

The mystery surrounding this game is what I think keeps it on people’s radars. Plus, PlayStation 3 owners can take solace in knowing it will be a system exclusive. Unless of course Microsoft drop a skip of money outside Square Enix HQ and it gets a release on the Xbox 360 too. Not out of the realm of possibility. We know how Microsoft’s pockets are deep and that Bill Gates can make it rain on hoes and game studio execs for days.

Fan Service To The eXtreme: Queen’s Blade Anime Trailer

For fans of the Queen’s Blade visual combat books and manga and fans of copious fan service will be delighted with this couple of teaser trailers for the new Queens Blade anime that’s coming out next season. Snake thongs and enough boob bounce to cause a tremor, you’d be hard pressed to find more fan service. I’m all for a bit of fan service but this is just… too much.

New Action-Packed Final Fantasy XIII Trailer!

Square Enix updated their official Final Fantasy XIII website with a brand spankin’ new trailer! Definitely worth checking out.

NOTE: In a bid for YouTube to keep up with the Jones’, embeddable videos now feature an option to be viewed in high quality instead of the usual compressed-to-shit quality we’ve been forced to put up with until now. Just click the icon in the bottom right corner once the video begins playing and select ‘HQ’ to view the trailer in all it’s high quality glory.

This is easily the first trailer in the series which has left me with a feeling of anticipation for the game’s release. The preceding trailers were just a little too dull and void of anything really interesting. They lacked a hook. In this trailer  we finally get to see more of the battle system and actually hear the character’s voice over dialogue. Square Enix is still keeping rather tight lipped on the battle system, but it looks like XIII will share more in common with X-2’s than XII’s: with all the chain attacks being able to interrupt enemy attacks and visa versa.

I always liked leading lady Lightning’s design, but this trailer has me loving her even more. She looks like even more of a bad arse! I just hope Square Enix give her some depth. No characters in a Final Fantasy game have been given a great deal of development and depth since the cast of Final Fantasy VII.

The game is looking real sharp from a graphical standpoint. I just hope the story and gameplay are up to scratch. Because XII damn near bored me to death with how boring it was, despite it being one of the PS2’s best looking games.

Square Enix seem to be getting the XIII wagon rolling now, which is a good sign. I think fans were beginning to get bored with there not being anything on the game and Square Enix rehashing the same images and trailers. Still no confirmed release date, but it is certain that Japan will definitely be getting this game at the end of the year. With the America’s and Europe seeing a 2010 release.

Dragonball trailer released, as sucky as everybody expected.

Somehow, two weeks earlier than expected, the trailer for Dragonball’s been released online, and to nobody’s surprise it looks awful. I still don’t totally get why Mai’s there, but not Pilaf, and everyone who predicted that they’d Hollywood Romance up Goku and Bulma, give yourself a round of applause. See for yourself.

First ‘Prinny’ Trailer Released

As you already know, the writers here at Dark Diamond were thrilled to see the first screens of this game, and now I’m even more psyched after seeing this trailer. Besides showcasing some rock-solid platforming mechanics, the game also looks to offer a buffet of variety in gameplay, and a whole lot of the zany humor developer Nippon Ichi is known for.

In contrast to their older Disgaea cousins, these prinnies seemed to have picked up a whole new bag of tricks. In the trailer we see them running, slashing, spinning, throwing, piloting a Metal Slug-looking tank, and battling some huge bosses (as should be mandatory in any good platformer). This could be a delicious antidote to the often overwhelming complexity of the Disgaea games.

Hello Kitty Online: The First Trailer

image

I heard that this game had been in development for quite some time now, but finally we have our first official trailer for Hello Kitty Online, and boy is it a doozy. Enjoy getting screeched at by some of the most sacchirine, high-pitched voices imaginable as various Sanrio characters reveal all the great features of this upcoming game! It’s “the cutest game world ever!”

Admittedly though, it looks to offer a lot: battle, customizable houses, farming, cutesy miniature versions of famous international cities like Beijing and Moscow, and in-game blogs and video for community networking (note the stereotypical scene girls shown toward the end). I doubt this will go down in history as a masterpiece, but rest assured I have my eye on it.

Infinite Undiscovery Gameplay Trailer

The latest trailer from the highly-anticipated Tri-Ace RPG beings with what looks like a backstory of the mythos of Infinite Undiscovery’s world, and then gets to the business of introducing a rather impressive number of characters, all of whom look like they’ll be party members. Finally after a bit more of this, we get to see some delicious gameplay footage.

Right away the architecture of towns and dungeons reminded me of Final Fantasy XII, as did the seemless battle/exploration, which of course takes inspiration from MMORPGs. This battle system is all about combos and coordinating your attacks together as a team. In a few scenes you can see the party members surrounding enemies and attacking different foes simultaneously.

Hopefully someone with an XBox 360 can review this game for us when it comes out on September 2nd worldwide.

English Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann trailer: "JUST WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM?!"

The trailer for the english dub of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. I’m kind of surprised they kept the original pronunciation of Simon’s name, and Kamina’ voice feels kind of eh, but not bad!

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann will air in America on the Sci-Fi channel on Monday, July 28, at 11:00 AM.

Sonic Unleashed "Sightings" Trailer

It seems the intent of this trailer is to remind us that this is a Sonic Team game. There’s no new gameplay footage, but it seems to be setting a tone much different from previous trailers.

Sonic Unleashed will be released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, and Wii in November.
