Kotaku reports that as of approximately an hour and twenty minutes ago, Tecmo will be taken over by Square Enix. The deal is expected to provide financial relief to Tecmo, whose supposed Blockbuster title of the summer, Ninja Gaiden 2, was anything but. Making matters worse, the company is currently being sued by most of Team Ninja including Tomonobu Itagaki, creator of the flagship Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive franchises.
Square Enix, meanwhile, will benefit from an increased North American presence beyond the traditional 14 year-old girls and nerds of all ages that make up Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts’ target audience, in addition to an expanded portfolio of non-RPG games. Final Fantasy Xtreme Beach Volleyball anyone?

I fell for the Ace attorney series big time and loved every second of Hotel Dusk. So I’m stoked that Kyotaro Nishimura’s new detective series pretty much takes these two games, fuses them together and throws a J-idol and a cute woman in a kimono as main characters.
I’d usually take one look at a game like this and swear up and down it would never release outside of Japan. But given how well the Ace attorney series and Hotel Dusk were received in the West, it’s not out of the question for Tecmo to release outside of Japan.
And ‘Yes’ - you read correctly. Tecmo. A game developed by Tecmo and not a bouncing titty or a bikini in sight. Though the leading lady could always open her kinomo robe in a Ninja scroll-esque moment and urge the main man to “Take me now!”
Very little is known about this game. But who needs info when Famitsu have a big old batch of screenshots for us to look at!
