I’ll admit I’m impressed by the level of commitment by EA Sports “it’s in the game” slogan to Madden NFL 10. Partnering with The Weather Channel (TWC), gameplay is augmented by live and realistic weather conditions as said by Derek Van Nostran, director of marketing for TWC. “Our teams at The Weather Channel provide a data feed that allows EA to pull real-time weather for any location chosen as a venue within the game.”
Simply put, a tropical storm is heading to Florida. As the clouds roll in, your team will see more dropped passes and fumbles on the field. Sure this makes stadiums more challenging, but does it really make a difference? Is it worth it? I mean a developer could just as easily randomly generate weather conditions and a player can always increase the difficulty.
It is cool, no doubt. But I think while it adds another layer of realism, it becomes a passing fad when you gear up to play, you see the bad weather conditions appear in the stadium info, and are faced with the decision to risk your perfect season or move on to another game until the storm passes.

The Consumerist reports on a reader who took their son to Walmart so he could pick up a game with his Christmas money. The boy chose Madden 09 and rushed back home with the gift. On the morning after, our young gamer was getting ready to enjoy the gaming masterpiece that is Madden, until he opened the game box. Perplexed, he exclaimed “WHAT IS THIS?!”, then rushed to his mother to show him the cause of his distress. Inside the game box was a generic DVD labeled “Redneck Shit”.
The work of some clever prankster/scammer/smartass? Sure! Still, isn’t the honesty refreshing? Quick someone go get me some blank DVDs and a sharpie, I have some Wii games that need “sad excuse for a game” written all over them.

Ever since Japan became a peaceful country and samurai stopped walking their streets, there’s been very few uses for martial arts weaponry. Sure there’s competition and the eventual stunt in a movie but what’s a weapon master to do in this day and age? Well you could do as this nunchaku master from Sapporo and crossover into sports! As you can see the batting cage is no challenge for his nunchaku skills. He can even open up a bottle of champagne for the celebration in the locker room after the game. In fact this is making me imagine a whole ballgame played exclusively with martial arts weapons.

Last time we covered the scene of maid VS domina football it was a pitiful defeat of the maids who, despite their earnest efforts where unable to triumph over the strong domina team. This time however, the maids have a new weapon, a secret technique that allows them to garner the power their strenght. This is the power of moe.
Watch as the maids use moe, the ultimate cute sensation, to confront the dominas.
Oh yeah then there’s also some kind of prank they play on the domina team captain, something about bicycles or something, who really cares! So long as they’re dressed in PVC I’m happy!

From the department of fucked up what-if scenarios comes this video of a Maid football team battling it out with a Dominatrix team on a football match. Only in Japan Ladies and Gents! Maids, the epitome of submission and purity versus Dominas the epitome of aggression and perversion, epic!
Aww, that’s too bad, but for a team of maids they sure know how to dribble.

You might remember reading about the Wii Sports Experiment a couple of months ago, where a fellow exercised by playing Wii Sports for 6 weeks. The experiment had mildly impressive results as it was a short term experiment and only 9 pounds were lost. While interesting it didn’t really prove that the Wii was a viable long term fitness tool, specially since the subject wasn’t exactly overweight to begin with.
Enter the Wii Weight Loss Plan, J.R.’s plan to exercise by playing the Wii for one whole year. His goal is to lose 80 pounds in this time, which frankly, is a lot more realistic need for overweight fellows. But playing the Wii isn’t the only thing he’s doing, oh no, that would be much to simple for a geek. J.R. says:
I know that I need to change my lifestyle and stay motivated. I know that I need to eat healthier and I know that I need to be more active in my lifestyle, but playing the Wii and keeping up on this website are going to be my biggest motivating factors on reaching my goal.
He’s already 4 weeks into it and 12 pounds lighter, beating the Wii Sports Experiment by a large margin. Its always refreshing when you see someone being affected positively by video games, in a world where gaming is an stigma news like this get me all fuzzy and warm. Good luck J.R.!

Last night after after a disastrous freak accident caused water to be spilled on my 21″ monitor, killing it, I laid on bed to watch some TV and forget my woes. Oh and what was it that I saw? Conan O’Brien challenging Australian Open champion Serena Williams to a match of Wii Sports Tennis! I guess thats what you’d really call a Wii Sports Champion, wouldn’t you?

Welcome to the last day of our Wii Sports Champions series, today we’ll be looking at boxing.
First Jaden0707 shows us his bag punching skills, bags in 2 hits? Impressive.
Next we’ve got MewKenny showing us his technique for defeating pro level AI. In his own words “Just wait for the slow motion and hit your opponent ;)”. Winking emote indeed.
Jaden0707 is back for our last video today with a video showing his winning skills for boxing. Sure he also uses MewKenny’s technique but he has superb blocking skills and a 3000 pro score. That and well, he’s featured twice in this update! Jaden, you are today’s biggest Wii Sports Champion!

We are nearing the end of our Wii Sports Champions series but that doesn’t mean its getting less entertaining. Today we’ll be covering tennis.
Lets get started with this video from BijanTheMan who plays a flawless game against two pro level CPU players. This is no easy feat at all, good game Bijan!
Sure, beating a couple of pro AI is worth its praise but what you’ll see in the next video is much more impressive. User jakek812 comes to show us that with enough skill you can even mock the game. See, jakek812 can win a game of tennis without even looking at the screen. If thats not a Wii Sports Champion then there is no such thing. Thats why jakek812 takes todays biggest Wii Sports Champion award, Congrats!
Thats it for todays update, come back tomorrow when we take on Boxing, the last sport in the Wii Sports Champions series.

In the third day of our Wii Sports Champions series we’ll take a look at Baseballs greatest hits, literally. Its all about homeruns here.
To be honest, there isn’t much to feature out there as far as baseball goes, but I did find two videos, both equally impressive. What you’ll be seeing are two perfect HomeRun Test runs with even a couple of hits making it outside the park. So because of their dedication to Wii Sports Baseball and since no one else apparently cared enough to record their baseball feats, users Propazoid and Tanheidern both earn todays biggest Wii Sport Champion award. Congratulations guys, lets just hope none of them did steroids to get here.
Come back tomorrow as we near the end of our Wii Sport Champions series!
