For those of you who have had experience with the Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament scene, “KEN” should be a familiar name to you. That’s right, the long-standing international champion of the game, Ken Hoang, is going to be on starring in Survivor: Gabon, which starts airing Sept. 25 on CBS.

His bio on the CBS webpage reveals some interesting facts about Hoang, including the boast that he climbed Mt. Fuji when he was only 20 years old (he’s 22 now). Supposedly his strategy on the show will bank on his opponents underestimating his lean stature, and he’ll also employ his ability with “mind games.” Protip: wavedashing won’t save you from stampeding elephants.

Homebrewer Brings Smash Bros. To The Nintendo DS

A homebrewer going by the name of Fuzzy has made a very crude version of Smash Bros. for the DS as you can see on the video above, called Smash Brothers Rumble. It seems to be a completely new engine of sorts with custom sprites and the likes. Its still at a very early stage as you can see but the project shows promise. Lets see how far he can get before the cease and desist arrives!

Download Smash Bros. Rumble files here.

Thanks grumbr!

Princess Peach panty shots

Throw a pretty young princess in a game with a large fluttering skirt and a snapshot feature and this is what happens: A slew of Princess Peach panty shots. Don’t try clicking the images. There is no click to enlarge feature.

Even with her skirt a flutter and her panties on full display, Peach manages to stay classy and dignified - which is more than what can be said for Britney Spears.

Did Samus just speak!?

Holy f**k. The bitch can talk. Samus Aran can talk!! I mean ACTUALLY TALK. Real words. Check this video out. Forward the movie clip to the point where the in game counter hits 56 seconds.

Well I’ll be damned if Nintendo didn’t go and make Samus into a sex pot! The tight figure hugging body suit and the uttering of phrases such as “Try me”, “Oooo, my…” and “Is that all!?” as she cracks a laser whip. Samus’ ‘operation: sexy back’ is in full effect. She always had the hot body, athleticism, killer instinct and cute face - now she has the sultry and sexy voice to match. If truth be told I always thought Samus was sexy. Even in the full on Varia suit and before I knew the person in the suit was a woman. (Yes. I’m f**ked up).

This opens the floodgates for Samus to talk in future installments of Metroid. I’m sure that there are Metroid fans who would want to hear Samus speak. I’m cool with whether she does or not. If she’s made to speak it would add a whole new colour and dimension to her character - which is all good. But if she’s kept as the silent bounty hunter - then it’s still all good. It’s a win, win situation.

Super smash bros. brawl leakage

Just like every other blog on gaming related news out there, I’m here to bombard you with stuff on Super Smash Bros. Brawl and spoil shit for you in the process. We’ll get to the major spoilers later. But first, the intro to the game.

I know shit loads has been put into the game and that it’s had everything thrown into it but the kitchen sink (which is probably tucked away as an unlockable), but did anyone else find that intro boring? It’s just clips from the ‘Subspace emissary’ mode and clips of in game footage. It would’ve been nice to have had some brand new intro exclusive FMV and also some sound effects. But that’s just me being a fussy bastard. On a non moaning note, I absolutely love the Nobuo Uematsu theme song. A nice reminder of why I fell for his compositions in the first place, because I didn’t like most of the shit he did for Final Fantasy IX and X.

If you’d like to see who which folk have made the cut to duke it out in Brawl, then look below. I warn you, it’s spoilerific.

Olimar & the Pikmin join the Brawl

Olimar and his purple and yellow PikminI’ve always liked Captain Olimar. There’s something about his pointy ears, big nose, lack of hair and one facial expression that I find quite endearing. So it’s great he’ll feature in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Near enough all of Olimar’s attacks utilize the Pikmin. Olimar will be able to pluck them out of the ground at will, set them on enemies and swipe ‘em in bitches faces. According to the creator of the game Masahiro Sakurai, Olimar cannot do jack shit without the Pikmin. I’d feel quite bad using the Pikmin for such violent acts and watching them die in battles. I still have nightmares and feel deeply guilty for allowing my entire troop of Pikmin to get munched on by a Grub dog in the first Pikmin game.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl releases in Japan in exactly 2 weeks time. Let’s see if Nintendo can somehow keep a lid on the final character roster until then. I’ll give it a week until some ghetto camera phone quality picture of the final Brawl roster finds its way into a forum.

Get smashed online

Brawl with friends and with anyone

Super Smash Bros. Brawl has been confirmed as being online playable!! *Woot-Woot!!* Nintendo could not afford to release this game without online play. Not unless they wanted daily death threats and Nintendo fanboys making like a John Woo movie in the lobby of their Kyoto HQ.

As with all of Nintendo’s first party online titles, the game will utilize the bastard Friend codes. But players are at least able to somewhat communicate with one another by inputting short messages before a match and then having them be displayed as they taunt. It’s no substitute for voice chat, but it’s better than nothing I guess. *shrugs*

Super Smash bros. Melee was a brilliant game up to this point Brawl looked like it was well on its way to being a better game. But with that said, the next evolution for the series was always for it to be playable online. So if Nintendo were to put the game out with no online play it would’ve fallen short. Gladly we needn’t worry about any of that - because the game is looking fine and it’s online!!

Super Smash Bros. Brawl is going to rock. I can feel it in my toes. I just hope Nintendo don’t shit on European gamers like they always do by releasing the PAL version three months after the North American release. I think I’d actually have a Britney Spears style breakdown if they announced this would not release across Europe until March.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl updates: Petey’s on the case

Petey Piranha

So the overgrown Piranha who wreaked havoc in THE best 3D platform game ever that is Super Mario Sunshine (that was me being sarcastic) will appear as a boss in Super Smash bros. Brawl. And before you ask - Yes. That is Princess Zelda and Princess Peach locked up in those cages. Yet again, the silly bitches have gone and gotten themselves kidnapped. They flew into the fray like they were actually going to help, but end up getting locked in cages. I hope for Mario and Link’s sakes that the Princesses put out REAL good for the amount of times they’ve gone to their rescue.

There have been quite a few cool updates on the official Smash bros. web site. So allow me to re-cap them all for you…

Art Onslaught, Nintendo style

Just goes to show how dedicated Nintendo fans can be. This piece, which needs to be seen full-screen for all of its glory, is done by CytosisX. It took him 2 years, and consists of an uncountable amount of layers and 40 or more Nintendo characters. Seriously, click here. It’s really great looking. Check out his other drawings in his gallery; most of them are videogame-related and piques interest to those in search of eye-candy.

P.S: Any chance we’ll see Mac in the next Smash Bros. sequel?

Super Smash Bros. Brawl: The subspace emissary

Super Smash Bros. Brawl will feature a side scrolling action game complete with its only little story told via cool little scenes like this one…

Zelda and Peach rush into action like they’re ready to kick arse, yet they fail to avoid getting themselves kidnapped on a daily basis. (Silly bitches). Producer of the game Masahiro Sakurai describes this new mode as “robust”. The production values of Super Smash Bros. Melee were seriously high and it looks as though it will be no different with Brawl - so I’m fully inclined to believe the fella.

This game is going to rock. I pray every night before I go to bed that this game will feature online play. Not including it would be a slap in the face of us gamers, be a shot in the foot of Nintendo themselves and result in a breakdown from yours truly.

Also, is it wrong that I found Zelda and Peach a little hot in that movie clip? *runs away in shame*

Super Smash Bros. Brawl: Recently at the dojo…

Smash bros. dojo

Keeping true to his word, Smash Bros. director Mashahiro Sakurai has been updating the official Smash Bros. website every weekday with information on the forthcoming game. Some interesting, some crap. But none the less I personally think it’s cool that new tidbits of info are leaked daily. I love how this game looks to be coming along and I’m such a Smash bros. fan that I’ll gladly eat up any scraps the developer wants to throw me. So if you haven’t been checking the Dojo daily, here’s a little re-cap on some of the recent reveals.

Smash Bros. Brawl can be played with all controllers. Talk about compatibility. . .

Comment now!

user1707_1160358831a.jpgSeems like the new Smash Brothers’ sequel for the Wii is going to be compatible with four types of controllers: The Wii Remote in it’s sideways position, The Wii remote + Nunchuck, The “Retro” Virtual Console controller, and the GameCube controller. A very big surprise for us here, not just because we’re accustomed to using the GameCube controller, but since you can also use the wii remote in its sideways position, the next question jumps to mind: Are there gonna be normal attacks and Smash attacks, since the use of a Smash attack needed you to tilt the controller’s analog stick and the Wii remote doesn’t have any? Such a long question, but the answer might surely be worth it.
