Our Steam Group!

Yes, dear readers, as mentioned in our podcast, we have a Dark Diamond Steam group! If you play any Steam games be sure to join up, perhaps you can meet with us when we’re playing Team Fortress 2, Garry’s Mod or anything else. Its also easier to know when we’ve got a game going on in the official Dark Diamond TF2 server.

Site Updates!

Hope you’ve noticed some of the changes we’ve been making to the site behind the scenes! Most notable is the new DDN-tan drawing that stands on the website header. Isn’t she lovely? Props to Godsh0t, DDN-tans creator for drawing her so well. Other changes are:

• Better search box, more identifiable since it now says ‘search’, that only took us 2 years huh?
• Avatars for authors are back! We’re saying good bye to the uniform Mii avatars.
• A staff list of the recent active members of the DD crew.
• Better contact forms, now there’s a separate form to contact the whole crew for tips and press stuff and one specifically for myself for official business, all in the same friendly contact page.
• Small adjustments to the layout overall.

However, our most important new feature is the Upcoming Releases & Events list on the sidebar! Wonder what games are getting released soon? What anime or manga is premiering? Just load up the site and look at the 10 nearest events!

Who the HELL do you think we are?! You cant keep us down, not for long at least! We are back online guys! Boy those were some very interesting 24 hours. Hacking is not fun when you’re the victim kids! In the end with the help of some very powerful linux wizards we managed to battle the evil away.

As a result of this you may notice some slight cosmetic errors on the site for a while until we clean up the debris of war. The biggest casualty were the forums which had to take one for the team and went down in a blaze of glory. They will be back in the near future anyway.

So what did you guys do while we were away?

A moment one year in the making, the announcement of DDN-tan! Bare with me as this installment of Tuesday-tans will run a little different than the rest. DDN-tan has always existed as some blurry character since the early days of Dark Diamond, yet only now with the talent of 5 artists will she finally takes form. While the complete history of DDN goes back to 1999, It was one year ago that Velcor and I started Dark Diamond as the site it is today. Tired of only consuming entertainment and news from the Internet we decided to start our own site, and oh boy its just been more awesome as every day passed. As you could see since midnight, if you were around, Dark Diamond now has new clothes. There’s now much more black and much more purple, which you may or may not like. This is a completely new design that not only addresses some of the serious issues of the previous design but also improves several new points. There’s a new navigation based on categories and the tag list is now much more accessible. This design is literally the work of several days slaving over code and the reason why I was so quiet around the site.

But its not all cosmetic! While you can only now see the new design, for the past few days you saw much more activity from other writers, this is part of our reinforced commitment to bring you, the reader, more and better content. For this purpose we’ll be changing many other things backstage, among them will be recruiting more writers. We want to give you a better Dark Diamond and this is just the beginning.

Alright guys, there’s a new poll on the site, this time we ask the question of what this-gen console-tan do you like the most? Is it PS3-tan, Wii-tan or 360-tan? Don’t forget to vote and support your favorite!

Quick site update, its 4 am and I should probably be sleeping. Two things, first: the shoutbox is back! So do like Tomo up there and get shouting, its mighty lonely in there. Second, you can now subscribe to comments by email so if you ever wondered if anyone ever answered a comment you posted you can now get notified by email, try that out too (seriously, try it out I haven’t checked if it works properly!). Well thats it, I’m out, sleep is for the weak so I’ll be strong tomorrow.
