A behind the scenes look at the story of the upcoming futuristic first person shooter, Section 8 (not to be confused with Niel Blomkamp’s District 9) being published by Southpeak Games and developed by TimeGate Studios.
After viewing the newly released trailer above, it is probably a safe assumption to assume that the game is on schedule for its release PC and 360 release next month on September 1.
Speaking of releases, the Section 8 couldn’t be shipping at a better time as the Xbox 360 received an update earlier today that, along with other social features, encourages users to spend more money on virtual goods in order to deck out their Avatars-perhaps we can expect to see some sweet Section 8 and Arm of Orion armor pop up on the Avatar Marketplace..?
We want to hear what you think about Section 8. Leave your comments below.

Still waiting anxiously for September 8th, when Raiden IV hits the 360? Yeah, so am I. Hell, I’m waiting for it to hit the shelves like Zack Morris waiting for the bell to ring on the last day of school at Bayside. “Fare the well Mr. Belding!”
While September 8th is still a good 6 weeks away, UFO Interactive has revealed to us that the first shipment of Raiden IV will ship as a Limited Edition bundle and will include an exclusive soundtrack at no additional cost. In addition, there will also be a GameStop Limited [variant] Edition of the game that will include a “Secret File” cd packed with “enemy and boss data, concept art and other secret material.”
I think my 6 week wait just got a little longer. Perhaps I will take a trip to the land that time forgot (AKA my closet) and return to my shmup roots. Perhaps occupying myself with some old-school shooters will help pass the time. “Anyone for some Life Force or Alpha Mission? No? How about some Area 88?”

Something tells me that it must have come from Kijuju. Feel free to check it out. That is of course, if you’re not scared.

Released for the first time in 1987 by studio IREM, the R-type saga is the pioneer of difficulty in video game shooters. I mean, I’m a veteran in gaming, yet I still find it difficult to beat the first boss, oh I have been the touch of old-format games ;_;. Having the help of “Forces”, the R9 (name of the ship) can use the Forces plus power-ups appearing on screen, all this to defeat the crazy-shooting Bydo empire.
Having a huge and vivid legacy (9 games, last one appeared on 2007, from Arcade to Playstation 2)) and being on of the top 10 games in the difficulty sector list, R-type deserves a good Retro Video
Here, Gaian00 shows us the first stage of R-type 3 with a different soundtrack: The Tragic Prince, from Castlevania: Symphony of the night.
And for the fun of it, here’s a video from Lkynmbr24 showing us the 1st stage of R-type 3 for the SNES on Advanced difficulty. . .but playing in a very pacifist way…
Liked it? Yeah, me too, even though this game is hard as hell. Gotta keep practicing. . .

It seems that there hasn’t been any updates on games people are playing on DDN for a while. Time to break the silence. Today’s feature is on both a renowned shooter and a not-so-renowned Strategy RPG, after being scrutinized for a few days or so. Read more!
Now, we all know Pentavision for their Korean hit rhythm games for the PC DJMax and and DJMax Portable for the PSP, (which is by the way, the greatest thing since sliced bread) but what about shooters? And Stylish eSper Shooting Sports for that matter? Well, we will soon find out. Pentavision has announced S4 League for PC and S4 portable for PSP. What we know now, it will be a third person shooter with team based elements and online based gameplay. Also, as they have announced many of the artists we know and love that made the soundtrack for DJMAx, will be making the music for this game, I’m willing to bet music will play *some* part in the gameplay. This IS Pentavision we are talking about. In either case, with the level of polish this team turns out, you have to be excited for them to turn open a new genre and step outside their normal game boundaries.
