A new Resident Evil 5 trailer has just been released to the public from Captivate ‘08. The trailer features more gameplay than we’ve seen so far, lots of mob action with some really complex crowds. Its good to see the old chainsaw back although I’m not sure what to thing of the continuation of the action prompts. This seems like a much more complex game than what he had seen before.

We also finally discover who the mysterious female character from the latest screenshots was, apparently an African agent of some kind. It’s very clear in the trailer that Chris Redfield will be facing the same virus that appeared in Resident Evil 4. From a previous interview with Jun Takeuchi we now know that this game will focus on what has happened to Chris this last 10 years as well as the origin of this virus and its connection to what’s left of Umbrella, if anything.I think I’m officially hyped, are you hyped? I’m hyped!

The latest issue of famitsu comes loaded with some new images from Resident Evil 5. Image captions and information don’t reveal much except that light mechanics, where moving from a light to dark area and viceversa will play a much more important role than previously hinted at. There is also some talk about previous enemies making a comeback, such as the nosferatu from Code Veronica.

Who’s the girl in the red dress? Could it be you-know-who?

You may have read a post a few months back from Nahu about the Resident Evil CG movie and how then there was no info on it, but now there is a trailer!

Featuring the Leon Storyline, and Advent Children Quality graphics, we hope this is a winner! I have a few fans in the family, and for my sake I hope its good!

Umbrella chronicles OST You’d have to be a hardcore fan of Resident evil and be slightly disturbed to want this soundtrack. In all the times I’ve played a Resident evil game I’ve rarely taken in the music. I only notice it when a zombie, dog or crow comes bursting through a window or during boss battles. Most of the time there isn’t any music. Either that or I’m just oblivious to it.

Still… For those unlike me who DO take in Resident evil’s musical efforts, you can now buy the Umbrella chronicles soundtrack, officially released by Capcom. I’ve yet to play the game, but the soundtrack apparently consists of remixed themes from the Resident evil games which feature in Umbrella chronicles. Not that I can even remember the original themes.

Interestingly the soundtrack comes complete with an image of Ada on the front, looking like she’s just been gang raped by a bunch of zombies, flashing a bit of leg and doing her best bandaged up Rei Ayanami impression.

resident-evil-manga

Capcom has begun publishing a manga titled Biohazard: The Umbrella Chronicles: Prelude to the Collapse (can we get: more colons: here: please?) which ties in with the Wii’s Umbrella Chronicles game. The manga only spans two issues and its pretty much a recap of the events that led to the fall of umbrella featuring Chris and Jill. So this is pretty much a nice lead into the game and might be great for all those people who started playing Resident Evil with RE:4. The first issue went on sale this week on Japan’s Shonen Champion magazine. Expect scanlations soon, no news on bringing said manga stateside.

For those still recovering from the disappointment that was the latest Resident Evil flick and those of you simply craving as much Resident Evil as Capcom can shove down your throat, we’ve got great news.

Two days ago Capcom and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan announced the production of Biohazard: Degeneration, a CG anime film based on the Biohazard (Resident Evil) universe set for release on 2008. No more details are available besides this very info and the image above. Hoever the possibilities of it actually being based on the Resident Evil game timeline and canon are much higher than with the live action films, and seriously, it simply cannot be worse than RE: Apocalypse.

Resident evil fans will probably know a fair bit about Resident evil 1.5. The game that almost was Resident evil 2. The game was 80% complete and had a release date and everything, until Capcom decided to scrap it all and start from scratch - resulting in a year long delay. Some original ideas were kept, but most of 1.5 went through some drastic changes: The overall setting and many of the locations were kept the same but went through cosmetic changes, the main playable character of Elza Walker was ditched entirely in favour of Claire Redfield, the character models had their detail lessened to allow for more zombies on screen and a couple of the boss battles were removed. Check out this video of the game in its scrapped glory.

The lack of door opening animations should’ve rolled over into the final game! Why’d Capcom leave those in?! Resident evil 1.5 looks pretty crap to me. The graphics in this version were supposedly superior to Resident evil 2, but I can’t see it myself. I think Resident evil 2 was a much better looking game. The rendered environments were much more detailed. Everything in 1.5 looks too blue, too clean and untouched.

I think Capcom made the right decision to scrap the game and start from scratch. The end result was a fantastic game and a stand out in the series. Resident evil 2 is my personal favourite Resident evil game and I rank it as the best of the bunch. As brilliant as Resident evil 4 is, there’s something about game number 2. It featured the best intro and ending, was essentially 2 (or even 4) games in one and it was the most plot driven of them all. I still live in the vain hope that Capcom re-make it as they did the original for the GameCube. I even would’ve settled for a Resident evil 2 scenario in Umbrella chronicles, but Capcom dashed those hopes and dreams of mine without a second thought.

It’s a shame that so much went into 1.5 for it to just be scrapped. Capcom could probably release it via Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo’s online stores and milk it. I personally wouldn’t pay to download and play it, but I’m sure an army of Resi fans would. These same gamers went about bought Gun survivor and Outbreak. I’m sure they’d snap up a bit of gaming nostalgia and a collectors item.

Extended Resident evil 5 trailer

Ivan 'Nahu' Lozano

Capcom released a new Resident Evil 5 trailer this past days at E3, not much is revealed about the plot except the game takes place on some sort of African village, there’s no zombies on sight but a bunch of militia and angry townspeople.

The game looks impressive with very detailed environments which goes hand in hand with the firm statement and final proof that RE:5 wont be gracing the Wii any time soon.

The little white under powered piece of shit that we all love can’t handle Resident evil 5, so it’s getting Resident evil: Umbrella chronicles instead. I was skeptical of this game at first, but having seen the latest trailer I am really looking forward to this game. Just to see Jill rock the boob tube, mini skirt and knee high boot combo in 128 bit glory if nothing else.

Umbrella chronicles focuses on the downfall of Umbrella leading right up to the start events of Resident evil 4. The trailer reveals that the events of Resident evil 0, 1 and 3: Nemesis will be revisited, but there’s no sign of Resident evil 2! Resident evil 2 is one of my favourite Resident evil games alongside number 4, so I’d love to see it get the treatment in Umbrella chronicles.

So what is the deal with Umbrella? Will Leon and Claire’s epic struggle in the Raccoon city police station be left out? What is up with Albert Wesker’s voice? Have Capcom lost they God damned mind!?! Watch this space. Something tells me that we’ll see a lot more than what is shown in this trailer leading up to the games’ release. :P

Gotta love the boys over at Kotaku. And girls (Sorry Kim, Alice, Colette). GameVideos offers us this look into RE:UC’s gameplay, and from the looks of it, hello rail shooter! I’ve always loved heading over to the nearest arcade and playing House of the Dead before they introduced those crappy new submachine guns… I mean hell, I thought the shotgun was a bit much until I saw Army of Darkness again and realized what I could do with it. And I remember Capcom trying something out with Resident Evil Code: Veronica by bringing it into the arcades. Truthfully, I’ve got a feeling that it might take away from the original RE experience before it went survival action with RE4 (RE4 still kicks ass, nevertheless). Yet, I bet it’ll take the frustration out of having to deal with all those damn puzzles. Either way, I’m looking forward to the Umbrella Chronicles! And for once, I have a chance against those damned Crimson Zombies!

Just thought I ought to snab this trailer for those of you looking forward to the Resident Evil Wii game.

Mmm…. zombies.

As Luminous Path reported earlier this week, Capcom is releasing a port of Resident Evil 4 for the Wii, which will be released this summer followed closely by the Wii exclusive title Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. Well Capcom is being quite generous with the media this week as Jeux France has published a gallery with tons of screens from both games.

The graphics of Umbrella Chronicles look up to par with Resident Evil 4 but that’s also to say that both games have Gamecube era graphics. Check out some of the images above and click through to Jeux France for the complete gallery.

Thanks Tim87!

Check it out! Come April 12, Capcom is going to be unleashing upon us what they have planned for us for the rest of 2007. I’m excited. Maybe they’ll show off more Devil May Cry 4 action? Maybe on the Xbox 360? Oh, and Resident Evil 5 and the Umbrella Chronicles! Glee! Oh, I hope they have something planned for the Wii! After porting Devil May Cry 4 onto the Xbox 360, I have found some comfort and a bit of hope for Nintendo’s Third Party support!

Well well well. . . The new trailer for the somewhat expected 3rd movie release on the Resident Evil saga is out. There has been confirmation of no more Jill but rumors about more Barry and even Leon S. Kennedy, our newest drug-trained (how else do you explain his back flips?) zombie-killing machine.

The movie is supposed to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada. But the second video will take you by surprise!

Aaaand…since tonight I’m happy, and because the movie is being shot at Nahu’s and my hometown, I’ll put the bonus Zombie-cam version of a certain scene. I really laughed lots with these guys.

As a curious note, we have a friend that was a prospect to be a zombie, too bad she didn’t “get” the role.
