Oh boy this went completely under my radar. Remember the Mario Theme Night at the Scrollbar, where they made a bunch of cocktails and shots based on the Mario universe? Well at the beginning of may they went back to work on their next game theme event, a Final Fantasy Night! They produced a total of 16 drinks, 5 shots and 11 cocktails. Names range from the Cactuar to the Summoner Yuna and even the Liberi Fatali.

But of all them my favorite has to be the Corrupted Live Stream, seen above. Its recipe? You pour a ‘One-Winged Angel’ shot into a ‘Live Stream’ cocktail, it looks awesome!

While the complete history of DDN goes back to 1999, It was one year ago that Velcor and I started Dark Diamond as the site it is today. Tired of only consuming entertainment and news from the Internet we decided to start our own site, and oh boy its just been more awesome as every day passed. General geek holiday update. Today,as you have surely heard everywhere else, is Star Wars 30th anniversary, so you will see storm troopers and wookies everywhere all day long. However, you should also be on the lookout for fellow froods who know where their towels are; for today is Towel Day! A holiday to celebrate Douglas Adams and well, simply practice carrying your towel everywhere for good measure. Consider yourselves noticed.

Today is a gaming holiday, actually for the more devoted of us it is a Holy Day. Today, November 16, is Shigeru Miyamoto’s birthday!

The man that gave us Mario, Donkey Kong, Zelda and yes, even Pikmin, turns 54 today. Happy birthday Shiggy! May you keep breaking the barriers for many more years and many thanks for the experiences you’ve brought us. Many generations of gamers forever influenced by his creations.

It makes me wonder, how does Miyamoto spends his birthday? Probably playing the guitar and spending time with the kids and the pets and all that cozy and fuzzy-feeling stuff.

That or dressed as Link eating mushrooms ’till he drops.

Excuse the lack of updates today, specially a lack of the 2nd installment of Clash of the Geekus. I’m helping out with the summer camp program at my city’s main park/zoo. Taking care of kids all day is a lot of fun but doesn’t leave you with a lot of energy. If I could only plug a console into a tree and project it through a duck’s eyes this would be a bliss!

Velcor is out of town so thats made the load a little heavier, a little help wouldn’t be so bad I guess *wink wink*. Tomorrow is my birthday but I’ll take some time to put a little something up! Cheers guys, keep on truckin’!
