Let’s get ready for the weekend with a nice cup of WTF, shall we? Ah, I’ve got the perfect video for you, please enjoy!
Confused enough yet? These are ads for Mameshiba, a small kind of cell phone strap line of mascots. They are small bean-dogs which always seem to have some disheartening trivia for you. The name is a play on words involving dogs and a word for small and bean, we wont get into it as it’s not really funny unless you are Japanese and. You’ve got polite cute dog-beans eager to ruin your day while a dramatic sad song plays in the background, I don’t think an explanation is needed, I don’t think you really want an explanation. It’s perfect just the way it is.

Continuing our delayed and trickling coverage from Comic-Con here’s a small chat we had with Peter Payne, J-list’s big boss, we talked about J-list, what’s hot this year and a whole bunch of porn.
I don’t think either of us expected the video to go in this direction but hey I asked what was popular and well, hentai is always popular. They do have a bunch of other stuff like t-shirts, traditional japanese items and schoolgirl uniforms, a ton of specialty magazines, etc. But yeah, smut as far as the eye could see, it was glorious.
Persona 3 was a game that had a very distinctive and attractive stylistic sensibility to it, and Persona 4 is no different, giving us a brand new gang of beautiful hipsters to crawl through some dungeons with. In celebration of the game’s release, Japanese manufacturer Cospa is putting out this beautiful track jacket based on the same one the main character wears.
And now for the bad news: it costs about $90 US and so far there’s no known way to get this thing shipped to the US. I could definitely see myself wearing this, and may have to go to some ridiculous lengths to secure one. In the meantime I’ll just have to be content with my daydreams and QQ.
Maybe now I can finally beat Air Man! These are Capcom-approved and marketed energy drinks being made available in Japanese konbinis all over the nation to celebrate the release of Mega Man 9, selling for a measly 137 yen each.
Between this and the Final Fantasy potions and Nuke Cola, what’s next? Maybe Masaya could release a Cho Aniki-themed protein shake (now that whole sentence just sounded wrong).

Break the heavens with your…flash memory?! Quad Elements, a Japanese manufacturer, is releasing this spiffy USB flash drive in the shape of Simon’s drill from Gurren Lagann. The model above is still subject to change but they are already taking pre-orders. Its a steep price at nearly $45 USD (4,900 yen) and only carries 1 gigabyte of data. But I’m pretty sure that with enough spiral power you can probably make it hold a petabyte or two, although by then the computer would have grown into the size of a small galaxy and be protruding with drills everywhere.
