Still a little bummed that your Wii cant play DVDs? Jealous of all that multimedia functionality the other consoles have? Got a Mac? Get Wii Transfer! Wii Transfer is a program that allows you to convert videos for playback in your Wii’s photo channel. It also allows you to export photo collections from your computer to the Wii via your SD card. What? You were already able to do that? Sure, but with this app its more interesting than a simple and mundane drag and drop.
Where this app really sines though is in its ability to share music into the Wii via the Wii’s Opera browser, it even shows you the cover art! Oh wait, but you could already do that by setting a small home web server. And you can do it for free, regardless of your OS, hell you can even stream a full length movie like that, something which Wii Transfer cant really do.
Still, if you’re a technically challenged Wii/Mac fanboy *shudders* with 9 bucks to waste, go for it!

And even if I side with the PC guy over the Mac hipster, I’m so siding with the Wii on this one! Sorry PS3 fanboys, her vibrating features have been disabled. :(

Like most of us geeks, you probably laughed at those roleplaying Mac TV ads with the model young hipster and the model old cubicle rat. Like most of us, you probably got tired of them. After a while you just wanted to punch the damn hipster in the face. Well at VH1’s Best Weekend Ever they made up a more realistic version of the ad, its pure genius.

Mac gamers can add another mark to their tally. Sid Meier’s Civilization IV has come to the Mac. The downside? The system requirements for CIv IV on the Mac are about twice of what the Windows version needs. Users could simply run BootCamp and play it with windows on their Macs. Apple needs to rethink its approach to gaming now that users have more choices.

Mac gamers rejoice! Yes, the 3 of you, c’mon do that ipod dance, you know you want to. And why should you rejoice? Well someone found a way to use the accelerometer in MacBooks for gaming. Sure its just a simple arcade game but its a neat hack and for the state of gaming on the Mac its a welcome breath of fresh air.
Apple has been putting a lot of emphasis on entertainment lately and hopefully they will catch on and give some sort of gaming incentive.
