It was only a matter of time until a Metal Gear Solid game ended up on the Xbox 360. It makes sense. Konami know they can’t keep being exclusive with MGS to Sony this generation. They can’t afford to. No developer can really.
This game was never going to be exclusive to the 360 as many speculated when it was first announced. It just wouldn’t happen unless it was some crappy little side title, and nothing more. Konami would never leave Sony in the cold. Not after it has been 3 systems of theirs that has played home to the Metal Gear Solid series and allowed it to sell record numbers. To make a game exclusive to the 360 and snub PS3 owning MGS stanboys would’ve been a huge mistake. Konami did the right thing going multi format with this game. And PC gamers, peep this: The game is heading for PC too!
I’m actually more excited about this than I was Metal Gear Solid 4. Weird. Considering there is no news on this game other than it will feature Raiden as a playable character. Metal Gear Solid 4 was a great game, but it just didn’t amaze me in the same way Metal Gear Solid 3 did. If there was ever a game that didn’t get enough recognition or praise – it’s Metal Gear Solid 3.
Hopefully Rising will explain what the hell happened to Raiden, because MGS4 didn’t explain a great deal about him. And what was disclosed was plain stupid. A dude goes from having only the part of his face melded onto a load of cybernetics, just to end up with a normal body again, plus a few scars!? Hell no! Raiden should have died, turned into an Mk.III or ended up as a talking head in a tank. Many hated Metal Gear Solid 2 for featuring Raiden as the main character. But I didn’t have a problem with it really. My dislike of Sons of liberty was due to it being so boring and long winded. None of the characters, cut-scenes or conversations were particularly memorable.
There are no screenshots or footage of Metal Gear Solid: Rising, and there probably won’t be for a good 2 years. Then we’ll have an onslaught of images and over-long videos right up until the games’ release.
So enjoy that image of Raiden’s face. ‘Cause that’s all we’re getting for now.

Metal Gear Solid 4 looks amazing! This is definitely one of my fave MGS4 trailers so far because we see a lot of the characters who will play their part and boy are there a lot of ‘em! With characters from Metal Gear Solid 1, 2 and 3 making appearances, we can rest assured that the fourth installment will have the biggest cast of characters in a Metal Gear Solid game to date.
With this being the Metal gear Solid’s swan song there are more than a few loose ends to tie up and questions that need to be answered. Will Ocelot finally die? How did Snake age so fast? What the f**k happened to Raiden? Why won’t Vamp just die? Why is Olga’s daughter so damn ugly? Why is Eva still wearing plunging necklines at the age of 70? Is that black man what Michael Jackson would look like if he hadn’t dyed his skin, ruined his face with plastic surgery and kept his pet monkey?
Xbox 360 owners needn’t worry about missing out on some Solid Snake action. I’m pretty sure Metal Gear Solid 4: Supersubsistatenance will probably be releasing for the 360 in late 2008, early 2009.
Don’t worry. Hideo Kojima hasn’t gone all Kingdom Hearts on us. Beauty and the best is the name of the new unit of bosses in Metal Gear Solid 4. Check ‘em out.
The psychotic cybernetic nutcase’s shown in that trailer go by the names of Screaming Mantis, Raging Raven, Laughing Octopus and Crying Wolf. Laughing Octopus is pretty much a rip off of Doctor Octopus from Spider-Man and the rest of ’em look like megazords from the Power Rangers.
Mantis, Raven, Octopus and Wolf were part of the names from the FOXHOUND unit from Metal Gear Solid 1 - I wonder if there is a connection. Hmmm… Ah well! I’m sure the game will feature a 2 hour codec conversation followed by a 45 minute cut scene which explains the whole thing.
So the world finally gets to see Metal Gear Solid 4 in action! Yaaaaay! The game looks brilliant. It doesn’t have me itching to get a PlayStation 3, but I’m a lot more interested in this game than I was initially. From the gameplay footage the game appears to sport the less enclosed areas of MGS3, along with the feel of a Tom Clancy Advanced warfighter game. But undoubtedly we’ll get the usual bunkers and facilities that pop up in every Metal Gear game. Enough of me talking. Check out the awesome video.
This gameplay footage definitely puts Snake’s sexuality in question doesn’t it. It now seems he has a desire for holding onto the penis’s of a male statues, taking soldiers from behind and then grinding over their unconscious bodies, dry humping the floor and fondling other men’s balls at gun point. I guess we should’ve known from the start. His code name along with the title of Snake’s last adventure says it all really: Solid Snake, Snake eater. *slaps forehead* D’uh!!
Everybody will be able to get their mitts on Snake and his dirty old hands at some point next year. At this time it’s still unknown whether this game will appear on the Xbox 360 - but I think we will definitely see it ported to Microsoft’s system by the end of 2008. Probably in the form of Metal Gear Solid 4 Supersubsistence X or something like that.
