Continuing our delayed and trickling coverage from Comic-Con here’s a small chat we had with Peter Payne, J-list’s big boss, we talked about J-list, what’s hot this year and a whole bunch of porn.

I don’t think either of us expected the video to go in this direction but hey I asked what was popular and well, hentai is always popular. They do have a bunch of other stuff like t-shirts, traditional japanese items and schoolgirl uniforms, a ton of specialty magazines, etc. But yeah, smut as far as the eye could see, it was glorious.

Back in 2006, avid manga collector Christopher Handley’s life changed dramatically. Expecting to receive a new shipment of manga direct from Japan, Handley was greeted by his local police. The traveling package was marked as suspicious by U.S. Customs agents and protocol required them to open and inspect the contents. What they found among the various manga were seven books containing cartoon representations of minors engaging in sexually explicit acts, read loli-hentai.  Further search and seizure at his home revealed numerous anime related sites (animesuki, animenewsnetwork) and an extensive collection of animated DVDs, some being hentai as well.  A lengthy court battle ensued with the prosecution portraying Handley as would-be pedophile; the defense highlighting the fact he is a “prolific collector”, not one who focuses on specific lolita type manga, but all manga. 

Last week Handley pleaded guilty for lesser charges of possessing obscene visual representations of the sexual abuse of children and mailing obscene material, although many feel Handley was duped into taking the guilty plea rather than continuing the fight. Now comes the sentencing part, Christopher Handley faces up to a 15 year prison term along with $250,000 in fines and of course the loss of his manga. For a collector this can be a death sentence and if imprisoned, the real death rates in prison among pedophiles is higher than other convicted felons. While he is not charged with pedophilia, I doubt convicts will understand the nuances of acquiring and looking at drawings of characters who do not actually exist when the U.S. government doesn’t grasp this concept either.   

 The 2003 Protect Act under which Handley was charged outlaws cartoons, drawings, sculptures or paintings depicting minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct, and which lack “serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value.” I am not advocating any type of exploitation of children, but I consider manga having artistic value. At no time during the search of his home or computer records did they find real child pornography nor advocacy of it. Drilled down to the core arguments, this was a guy, who likes reading manga, who has a smaller collection of loli-themed manga engaging in sex acts, in his own home, who is now being punished for a crime, with a max sentence of 15 years. Once again manga are comic books, he is not abusing children and somehow this translates to justice.

Remember months ago when those guys made that simple hack for the Wiimote that allowed it to track your head movements and move the screen on camera according to that? Remember how we all thought “Oh wow, that’s true 3D!”? Well, we were not the only ones. Now a Japanese eroge developer, Tech48, has put the principle to work for its new title.

Teatime is a game, like many other eroges lately, where its just you and a 3D girl and you get to… interact with her to your hearts content. The only difference being that this game uses a webcam loaded with infrared LEDs to track your head movements and move the camera accordingly. What does this translate to really? Upskirts.

While a gimmick at most the feature does have one very evident advantage. Without the need to control the camera with a mouse or keyboard, your hands are free to… knit a sweater for the homeless. Here’s a video of the game in action.

Not only is this the biggest personal monitor array I have seen but its been set up to be the ultimate Otaku fapstation. I’m surprised there’s not a kleenex or toiler paper roll anywhere to be seen, but I guess when you have enough money for 24 monitors worth of porn, cleaning up becomes the least of your concerns. It weird, I’m really sad for the person who owns this but I also feel a tremendous respect for him.

Pigeon Blood is awesome; it has the right amount of animation, the right amount of music, and the necessary characters for the story, not more nor less. Being made based from an h-game you never expect a good story (except for C’s ware games), but you’ll be surprised on how some scenes just captivate your 5 human senses.

Joe Carnahan’s Smokin’ Aces opens tomorrow in theaters all across the U.S. and it features footage from a hentai series (based from an H-game) called Daiakuji. And what is this series about? Well CD universe (potentially NSFW) describes it as follows.

When Yamamoto Akuji gets out of prison, he finds that things have changed in Osaka since he saw it last: women have taken over the city and enslaved the entire male population. Luckily, Akuji, along with his partner Satsu, knows just how to teach these women how to be properly subservient again.
