Resident evil 1 for Wii?!

Resident evil REmake - Wii edition scanCapcom seem to be going port crazy at the moment! They recently revealed that the GameCube REmake of the original Resident evil game will release in Wii edition form. The game will of course be Wii remote compatible (but still support GameCube controls) and that’s about it! The Wii edition may feature a new costume for Chris and Jill, but that’s as extra as it gets in terms of new content. Everything else will be as it was 6 years ago.

You may ask “What’s the point?” I know I did. But I guess it’s another adult, non-kiddy title in the Wii’s library. God knows it needs ‘em about now. It’s also a chance for those who missed out on the GameCube classic to pick up a copy now. It’d probably be cheaper to buy the GameCube version – but good luck finding it now! It’s highly unlikely this game will release outside of Japan, but Wii owners can stay a little hopeful. REmake was a brilliant game on every front. The graphics were and still are amazing and the suspense the game built up created some tense moments. The whole experience felt so different from the PlayStation original that it really did feel like a new game. Capcom out did themselves. My only gripe was that the game was too difficult! The whole burning zombies bodies dealio got old and annoying real quick.

Many are speculating that Capcom’s decision to Wii-release Resident evil 0 and 1 is to lead up to a possible REmake of game number 2. I’ve been silently hoping for a REmake of 2 for a long time. I wish Capcom would stop porting and re-releasing shit and just re-make the damn game already! I’m not going to believe a REmake of 2 is on the cards, because I can’t afford to raise my hopes and then have Capcom break my heart when they announce “It is not happening” and then stamp on my broken heart with a “It never will”. A fan can still hope though. But given how long I’ve been hoping for a REmake of Resident evil 2, I’ll probably end up hoping for life.

Retro Video V2.0 – Wave Race: Blue Storm -

Hello again, dear DDN readers. Today I’ll show you one of my favorite racing games: the latest installment of the Wave Race franchise, Blue Storm.

I won’t lie, from the first time I picked up the N64 game from the nearest Toys’R'us I knew I’d love this game to no end, just like the F-zero series (on console, I didn’t like the GBA game). Excellent graphics, water physics, challenging AI, and the classic ride-the-dolphin trick: this racer gave us a lot without asking for anything in return. And that’s just the N64 version!

The Gamecube version included new stages, better soundtrack, more characters, character color and jet-ski handling customization, and an even more difficult AI. Needless to say, the upgrade from anonymous helmeted characters on the N64 to complete personalities and names on the GC title was an excellent feature, giving us greater quality in our Wave Race experience. I completely love how your guide changes depending on your racer. It makes it a more real experience, being in a tournament and all.

The 2 videos below are almost the same, but in the first one I fail miserably because of my lack of practice over these months. . . and the other is the third try. What a difference! Enjoy!

By the way, I’m playing on expert on Souther island on Sunny day.

Here’s the other one. Yay for me!

Liked it? I really had fun recording these! Wait for more some time later!

Retro Video V2.0 – Capcom Vs. SNK 2 -

Hello again! Hope you didn’t miss me along with this section of DDN! I come with an upgraded version: This time I’m going to capture myself playing the games I like and I want you to know about. How’s that, huh?  I’m such a good fellah, I’m sure you’re gonna love it!

I’d like to start this new section with one of my favorite fighting games (and almost the only if not THE only 2d sprite fighting game for the Gamecube): Capcom Vs. SNK 2 EO. For the ones who don’t know about this one, this game features a clash from your favorite fighters from the SNK fighting games (mainly KOF but some others make it to the game) and the other half of the cast from CAPCOM games. A nice touch in this sequel is that you could select among 6 different “grooves” or styles of play (like Advanced or Extra in Kof ‘97 and ‘98 but more specified) so you can choose who you play with but how to do so.

In this quick match I set up I’m the 1P, using Haohmaru, Hibiki and Athena. Difficulty is level 8 and I’m playing a standard Arcade mode. Wait for the surprising finish!

Liked it? Thought so. Expect more of these Velcor-Video-Veracities sometime later! Peace!

Nintendo Transformers!

Check out this bitchin’ Wii trailer that shows the an evolution through each console – from the NES to Wii.

I don’t remember this game being on American shelves….

Continuing with the Japanese Ad Bonanza I thought of this pretty funny commercial for Mario Vs. DK. It features women in Toad cosplay…*munch*…yumm..

What’s all that about Mario popping out of the girls’ boobs? damn.

A Hyrule of massive proportions

Screenshot Zelda Twilight Princess mit Spieler.jpgSPOnG is bringing in the controversy and bold claims as they usually do. This time they claim that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will be a game of truly epic proportions. The article claims Nintendo stated that it would take Link 45 minutes to ride across the Hyrule on a horse. And doing some voodoo magic math they’ve come to the conclusion that from corner to corner Hyrule would be bigger than 400 square miles.

While this would mean that Hyrule would be on about as big as WoW’s Azeroth, it assumes that Hyrule is square (which it has been in the past) and that there are no obstacles whatsoever in the road. This could influence in Hyrule appearing larger or shorter, I just hope it wont be as dull as sailing in the Wind Waker.

So, this one time at Camp Hyrule…

trif.jpgThe happy campers at Camp Hyrule got to chat with George Harrison, Nintendo of America’s Vice president of Marketing and Corporate Communications (who’s door’s label must be printed on real tiny letters). Among the highlights was mention that the Wii version of Twilight Princes wont be able to use the Gamecube controller, as previously speculated by Zelda fan’s who didn’t quite buy the Wiimote idea.

Oh and the man couldn’t go without leaving the scent of Nintendo secrecy lingering in the night camp’s air. Harrison said:

Remember, there are other secrets of the virtual console that we won’t reveal until we get closer to launch. Virtual console offers the possibility for us to create new games, but our focus right now is in getting the Wii hardware launched and new games from Nintendo on the virtual console will be coming sometime after the launch.

Then everyone in the chat room burst into singing and burning marshmallows.

Twilight Princess: Is the wait worth it?

WolfLink.jpgShawn White, from The Wiire, has written an article on what the wait for Twilight Princess has been for him (and quite likely for all of us). He asks the question ‘Is the wait helping?

Waiting for twilight, worried and cold,
going so long on the little bits told.
Swords will bleed and shields will shatter,
but if it’s too late, will it even matter?

He raises some good concerns about Nintendo’s decision to remain utterly secretive about the game, specially the Wold mechanics. Will they become a gimmick? He calms his own fears by remembering that was said too for the mask mechanics in Majoras Mask. I’ve always liked Shawn’s writing, its intimate and makes me feel all fuzzy inside, so go get fuzzy, read it!

RE4 Fan Video: meh…

Faith over at The Girl Gamer brings us this Resident Evil 4 fan video. She placed no commentary along with it so I don’t know what her stance to the video is. But seriously all I can say is: Thats why Leon Kennedy isn’t brittish! It just doesn’t work, brooding to witty ass just doesn’t translate well. Judge for yourselves.

I would have given them a much better opinion if they actually yelled the insults in spanish instead of recordings.
