Street Fighter IV: E3 2008 gameplay trailer

Nothing special. No frills, bells or whistles. But a cool insight into how the game will play. Despite Capcom saying that IV will go right back to the roots of Street Fighter II Turbo, it looks to share a great deal in common Street Fighter III: with the parrying, hopping, super canceling, EX attacks and how the attacks land. We also get a bit of Street Fighter EX 2 thrown in with the inclusion of guard crashes (known as Focus attacks in IV) and Ultra moves.

Street Fighter IV’s console release date is unknown, but the arcade version should touch down at some point later this month. Capcom are already speaking of the extra stuff they’d love to include in the home console versions of the game. So we can hopefully expect a well rounded package when it arrives. Something along the lines of Capcom offered in the home console versions of Street Fighter Alpha 3 such as extra characters, stages, a dramatic battle mode and a World tour mode would rock!

I’m just hoping the finalized soundtrack isn’t as cheesy and as porntastic as it sounded in the trailer. It sounded like the theme of a reject anime from the 80’s.

MORE Resident evil 5…

Capcom have only gone and revealed ANOTHER trailer for their bad ass forthcoming next-gen survival horror. Resident evil 5 is the game that just keeps on giving…

I have no idea who the Metal Gear Solid Naomi-esque lady is, or the hooded assistant. One thing I did notice though was that the hooded assistant appears to be female. I could be wrong, but I noticed the hooded figure had heels on as they jumped into the boat, had a woman’s chin and mouth when sat in the truck and had a woman’s walk as she left a room with the Naomi-esuqe lady. Could it be Sherry Birkin? The mind boggles. But I get the feeling that the hooded figure is of some importance or relevance. More than the trailer would have us believe.

Kirby Super Star Ultra Makes its Way to DS

image

As you may have already gathered, this game is an enhanced port of the SNES classic Kirby Super Star. What’s so “ultra” about this new version? Besides retaining all the original games, the package includes: “’new adventures,’ including three, touch-controlled minigames.” From this wording it’s unclear if the “adventures” are new games, or if that just refers to the minigames.

Besides four-player support for said minigames, two people can play the adventure mode in co-op, with one playing the role of the “helpers.” Here’s hoping that the game delivers enough new content to be worth your while, and that the minigames are actually worth playing.

Valkyria Chronicles Not Actually Coming to PSP After All

Oh boy. Way to screw up, Sony. In an almost impossibly improbable blunder, during the Sony press conference some footage of PS3 RPG Valkyria Chronicles was shown during the PSP lineup montage, on a PSP screen no less. So, sorry for my false announcement that this game would be showing up for PSP, but hey, it was pretty hard to tell otherwise at the time.

capcop-re5-e3-press-conference

Capcop has being quite vocal about Resident Evil 5 at this E3. Sadly, as vocal as they are they end up repeating the same stuff everywhere. This leaves us with but a few new details of RE5.

As far as the story goes, we know that its set 10 years after the destruction of Racoon City. With Chris Redfield working for the BSAA, a bio-terrorism fighting organization. He’s sent to Africa to investigate some sort of biological attack that has happened there. We also know that parallel to all of this, Chris has been tracking the original virus used by Umbrella . Coincidentally, both events lead him to the same town, Kijuju, how handy!

E3 Sony Press Conference

The conference started a few minutes behind schedule, and then got off to a slow start, giving us a history lesson about the PlayStation Brand’s success, then talking about PSN, PSP, and finally the PS3 lineup. Here are the big announcements you need to know.

  • 130 Titles coming to PS2 in 2008
  • PS3 Greatest Hits line, games for $29.99
  • You can download Movies and TV Shows for rental or purchase on the PlayStation Network Store
  • Home service can access custom environments based on games in your library
  • Some version of Valkyria Chronicles will be available for PSP
  • A partnership with Google that has to do with news and user-based content via PSN
  • 80 GB PS3 for $399.99
  • New Game: Infamous by Sucker Punch. Gritty action game with telekinetic hero
  • New Game: Massive Action Game, fight with up to 256 people in online skirmishes

Honestly I am really looking forward to Infamous, and the Store/download stuff sounds cool. IMO, it was the best conference of the hardware camps; Sony delivered a few new games, price cuts, and new online functionality. Their goal of highlighting the increasing value of the PS3 seems to have been achieved.

Full details after the cut.

Resident evil 5: E3 2008 trailer

There’s not much to say really is there? Other than this game looks absolutely blinding and that you know for sure you’re buying this game when it releases for the Xbox 360 and PS3 in March of 2009. I have to say: Capcom have been a real roll lately with their games.

So, it’s almost that time again. Nintendo, oldest of the big 3, is going to take the stage soon and show us what it’s got for this year’s E3. But what exactly does the big N have in store for us? Some of the big rumors this year are:

  • An external hard drive attachment for the Wii
  • A new DS redesign, or the announcement of the possibility of such
  • Metroid Dread, the first new side-scrolling Metroid game since Fusion
  • A new Zelda game
  • Information on Animal Crossing Wii
  • More information on Pokémon Platinum, the upcoming continuation to Diamond and Pearl

Which of these are true, and which ones are just wishful thinking? Find out after the jump.

Through the Cracks: Other E3 News

  • This rather unimaginative logo accompanies the announcement of Portal: Still Alive, an exclusive XBLA download that will enhance the original game with new maps and achievements.
  • Id software is partnering up with EA, and is developing an FPS with racing elements (!) called RAGE for the PC, 360, and PS3.
  • The entirety of the Rock Band 2 songlist has been leaked. It’s hard to pick out highlights among such a huge and diverse list, but suffice to say fans of the first game will be more than satisfied.

Bungie Teases Fans, Announcing Something on Wednesday (UPDATE: Announce Cancelled)

Bungie's Spash Page

Seems like Blizzard’s not the only company doing teasers this year. Bungie has replaced it’s normal front page with this, a splash page with constantly changing text (It changes between things like “Please Remain Calm”, “Pardon Our Dust”, and “Expect Delays”), some weird images, foreign text translating to “Please remain calm”, and a timer ticking down to Wednesday, at exactly 2:07:07 PM Pacific time. (Bungie has a strange obsession with the number seven.)

So, what does this mean? First off, this explains the lack of Bungie announcements during the Microsoft conference earlier today. For an unknown reason (until now), nothing whatsoever was said about Halo Wars or the now-infamous “unnamed Halo project”. The big thing here, though, is that we mostly have no clue what exactly Bungie is planning for Wednesday afternoon. Theories abound though, some of which are an announcement about the Halo Wars release date, Halo 4, or even Oni 2.

I guess we’re going to have to wait until Wednesday to find out what they’ve got planned.

UPDATE: Well, it looks like whoever is publishing whatever Bungie was going to announce today pulled the plug on it. In a letter posted on the splash page yesterday, Harold Ryan announced that “those plans were changed by our publisher.” Looks like we’ll have to wait for whenever they’re ready to show us what they’ve got.

E3 Coverage: Microsoft Press Conference

360conf-header

With news of a discontinued and suddenly cheaper console package, it’ll be interesting to see what else Microsoft has up its green sleeve to woo us in their press conference. Keep reading as we bring you live updates and commentary!

Here’s the wrap up. Check after the jump for the timeline commentary.

  • New Xbox Live Interface: Avatars, Mii-like things, to replace gamerpics.
  • More media providers joining the Xbox Live Marketplace: Universal, NBC, Netflix
  • Fallout 3, Fable 2, Gears of War 2, and Resident Evil 5 demos played, not announced for release on Xbox Live Marketplace
  • Guitar Hero: World Tour and Rock Band 2 bands announced, include Metallica and AC/DC.
  • Last Remnant trailer shown, still no gameplay
  • Final Fantasy XIII announced for Xbox 360

Microsoft looks like they’re getting ready to attack Nintendo’s death grip on the family gaming market. With new more accessible things like Avatars and a heavier focus on group gaming, the 360 seems poised to jump onto the people who are disenchanted with the Wii’s lack of HD or other media. There were no announcements about a motion controller yet aside from a Lips microphone, but E3 is far from over. Stay tuned for continuing coverage of the Big 3 press conferences!

Jade Raymond has New Survival Horror Game in the Works

image

As much a career statement as it is a provocative game title, Jade is calling her upcoming first-person survival horror game “I Am Alive”. It’s coming from Darkworks (responsible for Cold Fear) and will be released on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Destructoid says it’s “set in Chicago after an Earthquake and isn’t a heavy-weapons affair.” I wonder what they mean by that. Will we be seeing a scaled-down arsenal like in the Silent Hill games? No rawket lawnchairs? We’ll find out a little more from Ubisoft at E3.

Animal Crossing Wii Pretty Much Confirmed

image

When I say “pretty much,” I mean that there’s no reason to guess otherwise, looking at the evidence here from the Uk’s Official Nintendo Magazine. Kotaku agrees, saying they expect Nintendo to announce the game during this year’s E3 event.

From the image provided, it looks like nothing has changed dramatically, at least on the graphics front (which is to be expected given how most franchise updates from Gamecube to Wii have turned out). Hopefully this will be an even deeper game than previous Animal Crossings.

I one of the lucky ones who got to see E3, no i didn’t get to go to E3, I’m stuck here in my house, and its raining. But thanks to G4 their live streaming of the conferences made my day!

But man do i have news for you who happened to miss the Sony Conference today!

let me dial you in on what happened.

Sony Has announced:

Slimmer PSP, 18% slimmer and 33% lighter, and at the new price to boot!

Killzone 2 for 2008, i got to see the trailer, and i must say, it looked BEAUTIFUL, i didn’t play the first one, and if i ever get the money for a PS3 i will get this.

The fourth and final Metal Gear Solid game is also going to be released in early 2008, there was no demo at E3, but the director said that “if you guys want to come to Tokyo next week, we can get you one, hope to see you there!” ha ha, no. sorry man but I’m flat broke from my trip to acen…STILL.

Nintendo has also Announced:

New controllers/peripherals for the Wii, Wii Fit (basically Wi Sorts and Wii Play, 2) and a Zapper Gun, hopefully Resident Evil 5 and Time Crisis compatible.

One of the more anticipated games of the next-gen Super Smash Brothers Brawl, has been slated to arrive in stores December 3, 2007. Just in Time for the holidays.

Tskiller should have the details from the Microsoft show, or Nahu, or…someone.

Stay Tuned!
