We’ve known about the inevitability of the west making a Death Note movie for a long time but it’s not until now that we get to put some faces to that bleak idea. Warner Brothers has tapped Shane Black to direct a Death Note adaptation based off the Manga, rather than the series. Mr. Black is most recently well known for writing and directing the marvelously quirky Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. He’s spoken on treating the project with respect and appealing to the ‘spirituality’ of the original work but he’ll have to forgive us if we take this with a grain, or several barrels, of salt.
Thanks to the nice folks at Fathom Events we have 2 free tickets for the nationwide October screening of Death Note II: The Last Name, the latest Death Note live action movie. Screenings are on October 15th & 16th, so we have to give these away fast!
Fan or not, worst case scenario you can take this opportunity as a cultural expedition!
First off, to find out if you will be able to make it to this event, check here for the theater nearest you. Then simply comment in this post. Yes, that is right, all you need to do is comment in this post and we will pick the winner at random. What should your comment be? Well, if you’re at a loss simply write a story on how much you like Death Note, or any funny anecdote on Death Note that may have happened to you, a friend, or someone you know. The content of your comment wont be judged but posting “LOL COMMENT, DID I WIN YET?” Will get old fast. Also one comment per person, be nice.
You have until the end of the month so we can get the proper prizes out to the right place!

An important announcement to the many many fans of Death Note, fans of overrated anime in general, mall goths, otaku, philosophy majors and would-be antiheroes. Fathom Events is bringing the Death Note II live action movie to the big screen in the US. While not a first, this time its playing in many theaters all over the US, even backwater town dwellers might have a screen nearby to attend. You can check locations near you at the official event site, the event is scheduled for October 15th and 16th.
A warning to not diehard Death Note fans: Diehard Death Note fans consider Death Note to be the be-all-end-all of anime, movies, stories and everything else under the sky. Mention of any other anime, manga, movie or story that isn’t Death Note might prompt them to try and kill you, or at least to jot down your name furiously on their little black books.

That’s it. Mark your calendars, people! First mark this day because I was away for 1 week and I returned for my computer(did anyone miss me here?), and second, mark February 15 because that’s Japan’s launch date for Death Note: Kira Game, the 1st DS game featuring our mind-blogging characters duking it out, trying to find out who is who, who killed whom, and why does L sit like a bird.
According to that video, you can either be Light or L, then you have to try to talk your way out of certain events and try to convince everyone that Light is Kira (if playing as L) or getting L’s real name (playing as Kira). It even has a Vs mode. Wow. If you’re a real Death Note fan, I suggest either you get the Japanese version on release, trying to decipher moonspeak or pray to St.Anyone for the U.S. to bring this game over.
I noticed they said Communication Game at the end. . . might be using the microphone a lot? (In before OBJECTION!)
