It seems that gamers who are tired of the same “hide n’ shoot” FPS clones or the “Angsty teen with effeminate looks” RPG are getting a real treat next 2010. It’s Okami, the game that got a lot of positive reviews as not just a great videogame in all aspects but a fantastic work of art, and it’s making a somewhat glorious return, now in Nintendo DS form.
The story takes place some months after the first game, with Chibiterasu, a (take a guess. . .) chibified version of Amaterasu (the wolf you used on the first game) and unlike the full-grown counterpart, Chibiterasu still has to awaken most of his power. Add to that the comedic relief of wandering samurai Susano’s son and we may have another Japanese-culture-overloaded masterpiece.
Since the virtual brush is essential for this game to preserve its delicacy and charm, you will use the DS stylus to paint your way out of puzzles and dead-ends. Release date is yet to be confirmed but developers say it’s going to be in 2010 no doubt. *Sigh* I still need to finish the first game, need some 15 hours more or so. . .

They’re yellow, they’re happy, they’re 500 strong and Capcom’s Keiji Inafune is giving them a personal send off. The creator of everyone’s favorite little Blue Bomber, Mega Man, is personally signing each and every one of these 500 Kobun (Servbot) mugs to celebrate the Korean release of Dead Rising.
Keep an ever vigilant eye on Ebay for one of these ultra-rare mugs to surface, but don’t expect them to go for mere lunch money, we’re sure they’ll fetch a pretty penny.

Lets get away from E3 for a bit to watch something that wasn’t made by a big company, no multi-million dollar budget, hell its not even exactly legal. This is Mega Man 2.5, a homebrew game in development by Peter Sjostrand. The game, much like Paper Mario, gives a 3D twist to a 2D word. Based mainly on Mega Man 2 with a co-op mode based on Mega Man 3. This is the kind of project that shows the talent of rogue homebrew developers, too bad most of them don’t survive a Cease and Desist from the original company.
Poor suckers who only own Wii’s exclusively were made to feel a little left out and like pieces of rubbish when Capcom announced Marvel vs. Capcom 2 would be releasing for the Xbox Live marketplace and the PS network, but not the Virtual console (blame Nintendo and their file size restrictions). But now they can perk right up and rejoice, because Tatsunoko vs. Capcom is breaking out of Japan and is heading for the US and the UK! Can I get a “Yaaaaay!”
After a good 6 months of shedding tears over never getting the opportunity to play this game, Capcom have done what we thought was impossible and gotten the game green lit for a US and UK release. Still no word on if Australia will see the game. But given Capcom being full of awesome as of late – I’m sure gamers down under will be in on some cross over battle action.
Capcom have noted that the game may see additional features not included in the Japanese release of the game. Notably the possibility of extra characters and the all important online play.
If Capcom do not add online for the US release, then I will spit in the face of a Capcom employee. Not any of the ones who helped get the Western release though. Just a miscellaneous one who looks weedy enough that he won’t be able to beat me up. You cannot release a beat ‘em up in this day and age without online play. Unless of course, it’s released on Wii. I guess we best gets to praying again that Capcom include it. Sure, the Wii version would have those bastard Friend codes and be kept in check by Nintendo’s “No communication” policy. But it can’t be any worse than Street Fighter IV. Nobody talks on that game during matches, nobody wants to add you as a Friend or a contact, and the match making and lack of a proper lobby system is crap anyway. So Wii owners will hardly be missing out.
This is great news. Day 1 purchase for me. I may even buy some component cables so I can witness the awesome in ‘not true HD, only up-scaled to 720, but still better than composite signal’ glory.

Today Capcom announced that Resident Evil 5, along with Street Fighter IV and Bionic Commando, will be ported to the PC. With SFIV and Bionic Commando coming out in July and RE: 5 in the fall this marks the newest step in Capcom’s attempts to bring its blockbusters to the PC.
No additional content has been announced for the PC version of RE:5 but it will sport a fancy new feature: 3D! The game will be compatible with Nvidia’s Geforce 3D Vision technology, allowing you to not only see Zombies in 3D, but Chris’ bigger-than-his-skull biceps and Sheva’s well endowed buttocks will also feel like they are coming out of your screen.
You may or may not know that Capcom actually released Resident Evil 4 for the PC as well and it was considered one of the worst PC ports ever, with basically no keyboard and mouse support basically forcing you to the same experience as the console versions. Now with this press release Capcom promises full keyboard and mouse support for all 3 games but adds that “for God’s sake, go buy a gamepad with analog sticks.”
To this humble editor this seems like Capcom is missing a big part of the point of releasing games for the PC, mainly that PC gamers are not that fond of controllers. So with this kind of attitude towards the PC its still to be seen what they actually mean when they say “full” keyboard and mouse support. But hey! At least there’s the promise of 3D ass, cant ague with that!
Wii owners can re-joice in that Capcom hasn’t left them out on some Resi action – because Resident evil: The darkside chronicles is on the way! (Yay!)
The darkside chronicles will feature scenario’s from Resident evil 2, something that fans were majorly pissed were glaringly omitted from The umbrella chronicles. It’s unknown at this point, but its highly likely that Code: Veronica and possibly Degeneration will see their scenario’s played out in this game – seeing as Leon and Claire seem to be the focus of this game. So the rumor is true after all…
Earlier today Microsoft confirmed that they will be releasing a limited edition Resident Evil 5 Red Xbox 360 Elite bundle that will ship alongside Capcom’s highly-anticipated Resident Evil 5 on Friday, March 13th. Which is suiting I suppose, seeing as how the game does contain hordes of infected zombies, more uncensored violence and exploding heads than you could shake a chainsaw at. Yeah, I guess that creepy and gross enough to warrant a Friday the 13th launch.
Now here is the kicker: the system which comes bundled with the game (and other goodies) will set prospective buyers back a cool $399.99 (SRP). Now, I’ll pause a moment while all of you Resident Evil fanboys and fangirls check you account balances…

In a press release issued from Capcom moments ago they announced the availability of an industry first. Starting today Capcom fans nation wide will have the opportunity to take their love of all things Capcom to the next level and show that they truly bleed yellow and blue by applying for a Capcom Unity prepaid Visa card. Now this is NOT a credit card; there are no credit checks, no finance charges, no debt. Think of it as a reloadable gift card that is accepted anywhere Visa debit cards are accepted. When used, not only will card holders earn cash back that can be redeemed at the Capcom Rewards Mall, but they will also be given a 15% discount on items from the Capcom Online Store and will earn points on Capcom-Unity.com. And this is naming only a few of the perks associated with the card.

I’ve just gotta put this out there before you proceed to watch this trailer… It’s amazing. It’s epic. It will remove any doubts you had about this game that the playable demo may have placed in your mind. And it’s a tiny bit spoilerific. Press play dammit! Press it NOW!
Let’s get down to business. The female figure in the coat. Who is she? A great deal is pointing towards her being Jill Valentine. But, wasn’t Jill shown to be dead in a previous trailer!? Not necessarily. All we saw was a tombstone. No body. Plus, dead don’t always mean dead in Resident evil. The hooded figure’s voice sounded EXACTLY like Jill’s. And then you have Wesker saying what he said to Chris at the end of the trailer: surely its got to be Jill. There’s every chance that Jill indeed did die. But who is to say Jill’s body wasn’t experimented on, resulting in her resurrection? Or perhaps her T-virus infection during the events of Resident evil 3: Nemesis wasn’t completely vaccinated, there-by bringing her back to life! I’m leaning towards the hooded figure being Miss Valentine. But there’s also every chance it could be Sherry Birkin or Claire. I’m hoping Capcom throw the most gangsta curveball ever regarding the hooded lady’s identity.
Resident evil 5 is already looking like it’ll be one of the most plot driven games in the series since game 2. It could also be the one game to potentially bookend the entire Resident evil saga. But it probably won’t. Capcom will keep spinning this shit off for as long as possible. Day-of-release-purchase most definitely.
This trailer is available on the Xbox live marketplace. So those of you with Xboxes and Live accounts, go download this to watch it in all it’s HD glory…over and over and over until March 13.
Capcom gave Xbox 360 and PS3 owners a pretty nice gift a couple of weeks ago: a playable demo of their forthcoming, behemoth of a game, Resident evil 5. I have to confess that my rose coloured glasses for Resident evil 5 came off quite some time ago when I began to see that nothing about the game looked all that new over 4, aside from the co-op play and graphical step-up. Everything else looked more of the same, right down to the character animations, A.I and sound effects. So is there really anything to get excited about?
