It is certainly nice to see something that’s not battlefield come out of the fine production studio that is DICE. It is also really nice to actually see some stuff from Mirror’s Edge, a game that looks amazing for such little hype. From what we know, in the utopian future, all electronic communications are monitored for the 1984-esque government, so for a truly secure document to be transmitted, it must be delivered by hand. So, we get all these crazy Asians running on the tops of buildings like madmen. Sign me up!

There’s a game in the works for Wii which looks exactly like Devil may cry, instead it features a lead character who looks like a female stripper instead of a white haired male one. I honestly couldn’t stand Devil may cry. I found the first game in the series to be so boring and monotonous that it put me off of games number 2 and 3 and has me not caring in the slightest about the forthcoming Devil may cry 4, 5, 6, 7, DS and 8 EX+ alpha. So the prospect of playing a similar game albeit with Wii remote controls doesn’t do much for me. But I could see why others would be interested in this game. It certainly looks better than Soul Calibur legends.
Screenshots don’t do this game much justice because it really does look just like Devil may cry. I have a feeling once we see some gameplay footage of this game it’ll also run like Devil may cry with developers quick to say “No, no, no! It’s all about the controls!” But we’ll see. It’s just good to see a game on Wii that doesn’t involve chibified characters running around and ghetto ports of Xbox 360 and PS3 games. A zombie slasher game starring a slutty looking character who looks like an extra from Christina Aguilera’s “Dirrty” video will definitely help shift the Wii’s kiddy image.
I should probably mention that Super samurai woman: Zombie hunter R is not the official name of the game. I just made it up. Famitsu’s page is entirely in Japanese and I can’t read Japanese. So I’m not sure what the title of the game is. So if a DD reader who can read the good language can scour the Famitsu page and enlighten us with the name of the game - that’d be super! Until then, it’s Super samurai woman: Zombie hunter R.
**UPDATE: October 29, 2007** DD readers have dropped comments and identified the name of the game and it is called Onee chanbara R. It’s actually a series and has seen games released on the PS2, Xbox 360 and even on cellphones. So that’s that!! A shame though, because I quite warmed to the title Super samurai woman: Zombie hunter R.

In a bid to shed some light on games that many of us wouldn’t usually fart on. I’ve chosen to post on Zack & Wiki. This is Capcom’s first original title for Wii in which a young pirate must trek around an island doing what a pirate does: Fighting enemies, going deep into jungles, hunting treasure, swash buckling. All that pirate stuff. Check it out.
Many previews from hands-on plays with the game have been very positive, with many magazines and web sites citing it as a game that should not be overlooked. I’m still sat on the fence about this game and will wait until the reviews are out before I make a decision as to whether I’ll buy it or not. But based on gameplay footage, the game looks pretty snazzy and it’s great to see developers implementing the Wii remote in a way that doesn’t feel overly gimmicky.
Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’ treasure will release in the US on October 16 2007, with a European release slated for some time in October also. There is no date for a Japanese release at the time of writing, but it’s more than likely Japan will see it before anybody else - in either late August or September.

The rabbit-and-dog-freelance-police duo are set to star in yet another large episodic-filled adventure, dubbed Sam And Max Season 2. So far, the only details we have is just the picture above, and a few excerpts from the press release:-
“Season One was a great success, but it’s just a starting point for us,” says Telltale’s CEO Dan Connors. “The episodic model presents so many opportunities to innovate and engage the audience in brand new ways. Just wait until you see what Telltale and GameTap have in store with Season Two.”
“GameTap and Telltale successfully proved the idea that games can work in a TV show format,” said Ricardo Sanchez, vice president of content and creative director for GameTap. “The Sam & Max episodes continue to be among the top titles played at GameTap and we expect that Season Two will be an even bigger draw.”
The first episode will be available via GameTap, but instead of waiting 15 days for it to be purchased on Telltale (like the last season), now it’s just one day. As a gamer who got into the adventure-game mould a decade ago, back when LucasArt and Sierra were the kings of the genre, I am pretty reassured that Telltale Games are continuing with the revered franchise. Hope their next move would be to bring this comedy gold over to the DS.

So, the new season of anime has started, and obviously, before the any of the series’ even began we all picked our favourites. When looking through a list of what was going to be on show, I noticed a peculiar title: “Venus Versus Virus.” Which included a picture of what looked to be very promising. I mean, psuedo-lolis, gothic lolita, guns, demon ass-kicking, a hint of lesbianism; hell, one of the main characters even has heterochromia (all the rage these days!). What could possibly go wrong? Oh reality, why do you treat me so.
