Hi guys how have you been? Its time for a couple of announcements! First of all I’m really excited to announce that the Dark Diamond Crew is gonna be at two of the most important conventions in the US this summer.
We’re going to be at Comi-Con International 2008 in San Diego, California at the end of July. Abraham ‘Velcor’ Duarte and myself along with other friends of the crew will be covering the event. If you are planning to attend you better buy your passes as the event will probably be completely sold out in a couple of weeks.
Next is Otakon, Brandon Gaskill will be bringing you the best of Otakon in early September. Expect a couple of surprises from this event, its looking good, mighty good!
If you are attending either of these events let us know in the comments! We’d love to meet you guys! Now hit the jump for some more announcements.
As you have probably noticed our team has grown in the past couple of months, 5 new writers have joined our team, in no particular order:
- Chris ‘Taco’ Martinkovic – More than a delicious foodstuff!
- Quiche – This quiche is filled with gaming news.
- Vekter – Vekter likes Team Fortress 2, he likes it a lot. I wish there was more to say!
- Brandon Gaskill – The silent guy in the crew, perhaps too silent.
- Yuecchi – Our newest member, Yuecchi enjoys the finer things in life but since those are usually expensive he settles for anime and games.
In growing our team we aim to bring you more better and much more frequent content. Which is another thing you might have noticed, a lot more posts. However we’re a little concerned that while our traffic has increased the comments are significantly less. So we’d like to know why is that? Be honest with us, we can take it.
And as always please take this opportunity to tell us what you’d like to see more or less from us, we’re listening.

Comi-Con is awesome wish I were there. Texas never gets the fun anime stuff :( And Quake-Con does not count. And while they may be some nay-sayers that bring up Dallas anime events nothing compares to the only in Cali.
I’m glad to see the team is growing. Getting your RSS feed keeps me going while I’m at work.
GO DDN!
Me and my sister planned on bringing Gum-Gum (www.desfunk.ca) to Otakon. But there’s just too much stuff involved for us to come down to the US. Maybe next year?
Though it would probably be easier for us to hit up all the Canadian cons instead.
… i can’t go anymore!!! I lost my laser visa last month and will be SO NOT GETTING THE DOCUMENT any soon (i have to get income proofs and some other schnits)
and Kubo Tite will be at COMICON this year’s SATURDAY!!! GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
I wish I could join you, but I live on the other side of the country xD
In other news, I attended the NY Comic-Con and it was bitchin.
>:| I DON’T JUST LIKE TF2, NAHU.
I’m into anime and other stuff. I just write a lot of TF2 articles because I like it and I usually find out about that stuff before I find out about other stuff.
Anyway, I’d love to go to Otakon, but I’m not sure it’s in the cards this year. If I can get the money to fly up there and get a room, then I’ll definitely come up there.
I JUST remembered
It’s a ways off, but anyone who lives in Tennessee, I’m gonna be at MTAC next year, so if you see me give me a wave! I’ll make sure to wear a nametag the whole time.
I hope you and I, and everyone enjoy the Comicon ^-^ yay, this gonna be my first time O.o on the comicon obvious
I just re-read this bit “while our traffic has increased the comments are significantly less.” I can’t speak for the traffic numbers or anyone else, but I’ve been trying to make more of an active effort to speak-up. I’ve even contemplated sending a story/review sometime. I don’t want to call myself a regular yet, but I think there are many active posters.
Since I’ve started frequenting DDN and reading each post, I see a couple comments. Some more than others on certain topics, but I think you guys are starting to build a community. At the very least you have a group of us that visit the site daily talking to one another.
Mhmm! I visit al least 3 times a day.
Yeah, Sol you are absolutely right, and that is what we are hoping for. A DDN community, nothing would make us happier than that. And while you guys are without a doubt the founders and initiators of the DDN community, we want more, much more. Call us greedy but we want you guys to be able to say “yeah we were there before it was cool.”
It’a already cool Nahu, it’s already cool.
Agreed It’s already cool and it’s only getting better. You guys just keep up the hard work and we’ll to everything we can to assist and support you on this endeavor.
It’s amazing
