Back Online, Who The Hell Do You Think We Are?!

Who the HELL do you think we are?! You cant keep us down, not for long at least! We are back online guys! Boy those were some very interesting 24 hours. Hacking is not fun when you’re the victim kids! In the end with the help of some very powerful linux wizards we managed to battle the evil away.
As a result of this you may notice some slight cosmetic errors on the site for a while until we clean up the debris of war. The biggest casualty were the forums which had to take one for the team and went down in a blaze of glory. They will be back in the near future anyway.
So what did you guys do while we were away?

I kept pressing refresh until I realized that you were down.
I then proceeded to cry for three hours straight, skipped dinner and went to bed.
What happened anyway?
I finished watching Gurren Lagann while you guys were away. How fitting :p
Seriously though, the minute i came to the site and noticed it taking too long to load. I KNEW something fishy was going on. So figured i’d just take a break, and wait a day or so to return.
As a webmaster I have to wear many hats to help keep the site afloat. One of those hats is the sysadmin hat, one that I dont wear so often. Apparently someone or something exploited some software which was installed on the server but unused, and therefore unatended, to screw up the site.
It inserted a very simple but really mean javascript code into thousands of files on the server. I tried to remove it manually but I soon found out that would be futile.
Thats when the friendly linux wizards came in and helped me save the day!
I can only imagine what they did.
Wow, that sucks though.
Yeah, I panicked and thought you were offline forever for some sort of not paying for your server and thus all of these crazy monsters and things and games made in bad taste not quickly and properly reveiwed by people other than J._Leo were flooding onto the streets.
My imagination then proceded to get creative and I snapped.
So, is your site secure now, or are you still fixing it?
Still fixing some of it, the wordpress team has been a little too quite regarding some security flaws.
