Unfortunately the team has been struck with the H1N1 virus a.k.a. Swine Flu. Outside of our utmost commitment to the DDN community; there are times we need to take care ourselves and each other.

Well apparently I cant seem to learn and once again, on the exact same date as last year I caused the site to go down for a long while. Sorry for the trouble, feel free to mock my webmastery ways in the comments.

After taking a much needed vacation, I seemed to miss a lot around here. Whilst I was relaxing, taking in the waves; you all were busily sharing your thoughts. We seem to hit on a lot of topics this month, but I found the common thread to be based is societal differences. Here’s what you had to say:

“Video Games Are Evil”

After Gundam creator, Yoshiyuki Tomino told gamers “video games are evil” and are the harbinger of death to the planet, the DDN community provided their own analysis which proved to be a very lengthy and spirited debate. I recommend reading some of the comments. Videogames can be treated as a hobby and hobbies give way to culture. Keeping this in mind Velcor provides a poignant saying, “A person without culture is just another potato sack that eats and shits!”

Movie Night: The Mindfuck Is Over, Perfect Blue Is The Winner!

After much debate, Perfect Blue was chosen as our first foray into a community movie night. Furiously chatting away we laughed, gave our own theories of Mima, but most importantly had lots of fun….at least that is for the ones who could make it… Ninjaarashi laments: How the- what th- argh… I had this sinking feeling that something, somewhere there was awesomeness that was being had. I totally missed out.

Anime Reunion? Here’s A Good Start.

Velcor gives it to us straight: Let’s say we [fans] can play among ourselves and keep wanting more. . .The Verdict: A somewhat-balanced geek gathering that can be more if it introduces actual anime to the mix.

Clearly a much better experience than the previous debacle.

Movie Night: Cyborgs, Time Travel, Dogfights And Condiments

The resounding success of our first movie night gave us the opportunity to wanting it to be a reoccurring theme (we try lots of new things around here to find the ones you like the most). So movie night – round two is planned for this Friday. Stay on top of the news for the event and join us in watching The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.

No, we’re not going to ask you to clean your closet or take that cereal bowl to the kitchen (it’s nearly sentient now!), we need your help with a little housekeeping around the site.

You see, there’s been some issues with the site reloading automatically on its own indefinitely but we haven’t been able to replicate it. So if you are experiencing this issue let us know as well as what  browser and operating system you’re running.

In fact any other issue, bug or general grievance you have with the site please do let us know and we’ll try to take care of them as soon as possible. If you have some free time and wanna go bug hunting through the site we’d be delighted as sometimes we don’t even see the issues anymore.

From grammar to dead links to navigation issues, anything you think needs fixin’ is fair game, we’ll get it done. Let’s get cleaning!

Hello kids, quick note, our first movie night is today at 7p.m. PST. Subscribers will find further instructions on how to get into the event ahead of time at the bottom of this post, for everyone else, watch this space at around 5 or 6 p.m. for an update with instructions on how to enter the feed.

Ok kids we’re trying something new this time! If you’re in school you probably just went back to classes and between all that studying and partying staying indoors on the internet, if you work you’re probably stressed to hell. So we’re going to get a bit more social in here and watch a movie together, like friends. Now, don’t you worry about how or why or having the MPAA on our asses. Leave the magic to us.

For now just pick your favorite from the poll below and soon we’ll announce the winning title and more info about when and how. After this first one we’ll be counting on you for recommendations but for now… we’re sticking to a few classics.
