Well, hello there! Long time no see, anime review! I plan to get you up to date more often from now on!
*Ahem*…I didn’t think I would almost forget one awesome series that made me have some affection for Mecha series (I watched the first 2 eps of Gundam Wing. . .sorry). Along with pretty catchy electronic music and rememberable characters(well. . . kinda), this anime has a pretty interesting plot. Come and see why you should watch it!
This anime was made in 2000 by none other than GONZO Digimation and Media Factory, and brought to U.S. soil by Media Factory.
GENRE : This one has lots. . .starting with Mecha, Romance, Comedy, Sci-Fi, Action, and even some Ecchi at times.
STORY: Hibiki is our male main character, living in an All-Men planet with obvious military conflicts with the All-Women planet, thinking that they’re monsters that want to destroy their planet, and as it should be, women think the same. Now, Hibiki’s dull life made him try to become An_Hero when he tried to get into an “elite” battle suit without permission. . .when all of a sudden a woman ship tried to infiltrate their planet. He finds it impossible to maneuver the mecha perfectly and encounter face to face with the “Women” of legend. . .

GRAPHICS: IT was the first time I saw a completely digital (3d rendered) scene, and better yet, with great Mecha action and sweet graphics. They really put a lot of sweat on this one (well, it’s GONZO anyway. . .). Character designs are fresh, as well as the mecha ones: they’re sleek, well detailed, and sometimes with unexpectedly awesome firepower.

SOUND & MUSIC: The music this time is in the hands of Yasunori Iwasaki, whose anime career seems rather young, being the Vandread saga and Amaenaideyo! his only works. Still, it’s some awesome music. The OP song, Trust, although typical in Japanese electronic music style, has something that keeps ringing in your head, but not in a bad way.
You can hear it (and see it) below:
The ED titled Autumn has that kind of squeaky yet sexy anime voice (but not as painful as UNDER17′s. . . ) that has an Ayumi-esque feeling, hear for yourself:
OVERALL: An awesome series filled with character development, strange fanservices, a great plot and well-fit music. It’s like having a great sushi roll.

Vandread is a good series, but it’s been around for a while. Thanks for bringing it’s goodness back to my attention.
Remember, women are monsters that eat mens guts!!!
Yes, been around. The thing is that I have been busy enough to watch like 3 anime episodes a week. And making an OVERALL review supposedly requires watching it all :/. That’s why some of these are somewhat outdated (or maybe they were just expecting to be found, eh?), still. . .there might be someone who visits DDN that hasn’t seen some of these, so it’s still a good deed, don’t you think?
I agree, and I didn’t mean to sound too harsh. Hopefully the review will bring the series to the attention of those who have not seen it before.
don’t sweat it ;)
Ouchies. As a female, that hurts me deep. -continues eating brothers internal organs-
Hmm, not really into mecha, but I think I may give this a try. Not ecchi is it?
I think it would be considered ecchi. The main female characters wear fairly revealing clothing, and having three males on a ship full of women leads to some standard ecchi gags.
Really? Damn. Ahh, I managed Chobits, may as well try this too. Thanks for saying so. ;)
well, I don’t consider it Ecchi. It might have some “oh akward-moment with boy and girl” but nothing you would go and say “eww.”
It is certainly still worth watching, it’s pretty decent on the action, and the story is good.
Oh so it’s just like, oh, awk-ward.
Well, that makes me happy.
I’ll start soon.
Thank you, very much.
