If the ending of the first season of Vandread didn’t make you crave for more adventures with these peculiar characters, then you must be some kind of robot, because there’s no way you couldn’t have asked for more! So here it is, the second and last installment of the Vandread saga: 2nd Stage

Again, made by awesome studio GONZO Digimation and brought to the US by Geneon exactly a year after the release of Vandread S1. The animation sequences improve a lot; there are more space / Rendered scenes, more vivid music, and more romance fights you could imagine.

GENRE : Mecha, Romance, Comedy, Sci-Fi, Action, and more Ecchi than before, yay!

STORY:

Now that some males and females are coexisting together inside of the colossal Mejeiru (woman) spaceship, they start to question what was what happened them to be separated in the first place. But not everything is lovey-dovey here. Seems that Earth has sent 5 spaceships to “harvest” humans for their genetic material. So starting this season we have mixed feelings, some shocking discoveries and the justification of the beauty of humans. Ahh, how sweet. This is definitely a “Happy Anime”, which I like : ) .

GRAPHICS:

We have more action sequences (greatly done I may add) with our heroes and heroines, versus hordes of enemies. It sometimes even feel like playing a 2d shooter. . .in 3D! Aside from that, everything stays the same.

SOUND & MUSIC:

The new intro, “Justice”, is really cool, really suits all that space-mecha scenario, it really has that feeling for fighting.

The ending titled “Together” features classic smoother music than the OP, with the also-classic character scroll along the song.

OVERALL:

If you like mecha, great J-techno BGM and flashy 3d effects, this is for you, but don’t forget to watch Season 1 first!
