Aside from Anime Reviews, I think I have the appropiate mental faculties and Wal-Mart gift certificates to be able to do reviews form other stuff. I’m going to reviews some not too popular games for you, fellow Geeku, and I hope my comments serve well in that entertaining journey.

The game reviewed is Torus Trooper.

Created by Kenta Cho, this pretty interesting shooter, written in D Programming language (a mix of C, C++, Ruby, Python, Java, and some others), makes it a good source of inspiration for someone who wonders the magical uses of programming [games].

GAMEPLAY

This is a 3D, 2D shooter which purpose is to drag your mind to the highest velocities allowed on your comp. before hitting Ludicrous speed, obviously. You shoot a “Spazer” beam and have the ability to create a blocking beam, which reduces your speed, but believe me, you’ll use it if you wanna survive.

GRAPHICS

As you can see in the picture above, The “path” consists of tubular roads, halfpipes, and intersections, with a square grided pattern and trippy changing colors. Add to it a lot of wireframe-only ships and a lot of bullets. Finally, add some insane speed and urge for velocity. Speeds can go above the 8,000 Km. (if you maneuver quick enough)!!!

MUSIC

The songs, as most of all cyberpunk stuff have, is made of Techno/Electronica. It’s not condensed, that means it serves its purpose as BGM. The tunes are a little catchy, but you’re not dealing with an electronic master, anyway

OVERALL

A very simple, yet fun game perfect to spend some time at the office, or while waiting for someone at home, or whatnot. If you have it on a laptop you can play whenever, sicne it doesn’t take a lot of time to boot/load, and you don’t need to save or anything.
