Tenamonya Voyagers – An Overall Review -
Monday 28 August 2006 @ 8:02 pm | By Abraham 'Velcor' Duarte 1 CommentHere we have a futuristic story of 3 girls that, by some really bizarre probabilities, end up together trying to return to Earth. But they encounter quite some problems on the way . . .
This is a decent anime 4 episode OVA made in 1999 that comes by the pencils of Studio Pierrot. It has some comedy, action, sci-fi, and mecha.
STORY
It starts with a 23 year-old teacher that tries to find a job at a school that’s in outer space. She then finds out the school went bankrupt and now she’s stuck there. She finds other 2 girls that are trying to return to Earth, so they tag along. Thing is. . . There’s a certain one that has some very lethal secrets. The objective is clear: Go somewhere and endure all troubles you find on the way.
GRAPHICS
It has a pretty good animation. although you don’t get to see very much action, but the character detail is good, as is the background imagery. Expect some fan service in the last episode.
SOUND AND MUSIC
The opening starts with a march by master Masamichi Amano. Americanized, very, but it really “tells” us waht this will be about: 3 girls escaping from the police across the galaxy. Not very rememberable later. . .
OVERALL
To tell the truth, I didn’t like this OVA; the characters’ attitudes get old pretty fast, the jokes are few and not so funny. The action scenes are few and not so very action-packed. each OVa is 30 minutes long, but it was almost like an eternity for each to finish! I’m not very fond of mecha, but it didn’t cover it well for me to say “Well, they tried and made something.”. No. They did nothing. It was more like a Triumph Card everytime the mecha(s) appeared.
If you want some mecha, watch Vandread, Gundam “something”[except "Wing"], or even Kannazuki no Miko, they cover more time with mecha action.
