Kannazuki no Miko – An overall Review

We start with an anime that has 3 factors that could’ve been very well developed if it had instead:
a) A more capable team who tried to focus on story and not in just putting everything just for marketing purposes.
b) Not necessarily but really helpful: more episodes.
Duration and Plot:
It could really have worked with 16 or the standard 24, but they didn’t do it that way. We’re watching a deliberate attempt on showing off a “mature-themed” series into a non “anime-cult” audience. We have Mecha, for certain audience. We have Hetero-Romance, for another type of audience, and finally we have Lesbian romance, which is the main point of this anime.
Although they spend much more time on the girl-girl love matter, the other aspects are not too important and don’t attempt to be a major role, but simply hook the most audience they can. I mean, seriously, if you want to make an acceptable mecha anime, you DON’T put 4 different robots at the same time
Animation:
Even though the animation isn’t very flashy, it doesn’t show big flaws, maybe 1 or 2 scenes with eyes a little too wide, or weird proportions, but nothing to worry about. The robots are Flashy and have a lot of shining projectiles, but then again, they only appear at the end of the episode, so no worries either.
Music:
I really liked the techno intro and ending, but in the episodes it has some string music, and some piano music, but not as memorable or “complex” as other animes, like Maria-Sama ga Miteiru.
Final:
This was really something. They ended it how it was supposed to finish, but they thought of the replies they would get so they put a bonus -epilogue- happy ending, taking away all the troubles of rabid people who would’ve liked things to turn in other direction. Well, in my opinion, this anime delivers some good touching moments with the 2 female protagonists, but starts to get really interesting starting episode 7, too bad it didn’t have much time, or less robots, or a less complex plot. But at least it’s watchable.
Grade: 8/10
