Time for the second part of my Granado Espada review! Today I’ll be covering NPC interaction, and Questing

First up is NPC interaction. All NPCs have a dialogue window like this:

The dialogue is displayed window by window, and will move forward only if the button to continue the dialogue is pressed, giving you plenty of time to read through the NPC’s speech. Speech options (yes/no), and shopkeeper dialogue (shop/enchant/assemble recipe) are indicated by selectable lines, and generally there are quite a few options. Shopkeepers are indicated by icons above their head indicating what kind of shop they run.

Now for Questing. Unfortunately this game’s quests lack depth, and continuity. Granado Espada sports three varieties of quest; Instance quests where you defend, or attack an NPC or group of NPCs, Courier quests where you shuttle items back and forth between NPCs who are too lazy to do it themselves, and Collection quests in which you collect a certain number of items for an NPC by killing a certain type of monster. Not much more can be said about Granado Espada’s questing. Rewards from quests vary between items, and cards.

Items are just that, items. On completion of a quest the NPC who charged you with the quest hands you an item of variable usefulness.

Cards are interesting. There are two types of card; EXP Card and Character card. An EXP card is a consumable item which grants a preset amount of EXP to the character you wish it to be awarded to. You generally recieve three, and it’s up to you to decide which of your characters recieve the extra push towards a level. The other type of Card is a Character card. A Character card is a card recieved from an NPC which allows you to create a new class of character in your barracks. These characters are of a level similar, if not higher than your current family members, and are in posession of a number of stances.

I leave you for now with a somewhat artful screenshot of my party relaxing in the port town of Coimbra. See you next time!
