vlcsnap-486723.jpgThis is one of the best done anime I’ve ever seen, with surprising textures, wonderful music, good voice acting, and a futuristic adaptation of an excellent novel, The Count of Montecristo. I dare say that i was tempted to learn French after watching this!

Brought to us by GONZO Digimation, this 24 ep. drama was made in 2004 and is available in America by Media Factory.

GENRE: Drama (a lot), Novel, and Science fiction, since it features a futuristic Europe, with spaceships and all that.

STORY

It all starts with 2 longtime friends, Albert and Franz, who happen to be on vacation, wandering through a city in the moon. By some happenings of fate Albert meets a mysterious man and befriends him, the Count of Montecristo. Albert feels this man is good, and invites him to his house in Paris. What he doesn’t know is that the Count has other plans in mind. . .

GRAPHICS:

The character designs are somewhat realist, not as much as Yukikaze, but gives you that mature feeling, awaited in this kind of story.

This coloring style is pretty awe-inspiring, how should I describe it? It’s like having a pattern in the background and your clothes are see-through, but somehow your body is ALSO see-through so your clothes show what’s in the background. Bah, better check for yourself:

SOUND & MUSIC

Music done by Jean-Jaques Burnel, who is the bassist of a British punk band named “The Stranglers”. Gotta check their music sometime!

The OP [We Were Lovers] and ED [You Won't See Me Coming] are awesome, and strangely enough, not Punk, made specially for the series, giving 2 different essences of the same show. Wicked.

OVERALL

An excellent story accompanied with great BGM, witha new and fresh coloring style, making this series an outstanding reccomendation.
