A moment one year in the making, the announcement of DDN-tan! Bare with me as this installment of Tuesday-tans will run a little different than the rest. DDN-tan has always existed as some blurry character since the early days of Dark Diamond, yet only now with the talent of 5 artists will she finally takes form. Here are the entries in chronological order:

First up is this entry by Kyle DeVore, we see DDN-tan in some sort of cheerleader outfit with a motif from the website’s design. Also, of course, she has a floating diamond, which is dark. Very appropriate!

Some members of the staff suggested she’s cutting herself with the diamond, making this cheerleading DDN-tan either really emo or a fan of Heroes.  

Second up is this really spiffy entry from GoDSh0t, who’s real name is kept in secrecy because he never said otherwise. This DDN-tan is every geek’s wet dream, a sexy geeky girl who has that whole book worm thing going for her.

She even trumps the previous entry by not only having one diamond but two diamonds she wears on her pigtails. She seems the quite type which means she’s chaos in a box, just waiting to be opened.

Next up is this magnificent entry by Kaishin who, just like GoDSh0t, didn’t include any other name along with his entry. Kaishin is modesty incarnate since he is a self proclaimed “amateur (beginner?!!) CG illustrator” and this entry is clearly not a beginner’s work!

This DDN-tan sports a kickass outfit suited for the best magician in the land. She trumps every other entry in the dark diamond department. She has a diamond headband, diamond boot straps and one gargantuan diamond on her staff. Hell I bet she probably even has diamond studded underwear! She’s dressed to kill and probably ready to kill, her eyes spell trouble.

Now we have Mike Bastianelli’s entry, who stated very clearly that he was “more of a photographer than a cartoonist”, and indeed his photography is quite stunning! This is also one of the coolest concepts for DDN-tan over all. She is not only a gamer, but surely the protagonist of some sort of Mega-man meets Tron game that sadly does not exist.

She’s equipped with a blaster weapon and a diamond shaped scouter visor, surely willing to give Samus Aran a run for her money. Her attire also is very cyberpunk and has motifs from the website in small details like her skirt. Oh and there’s that… thing on her head. We were never sure what it was, is it a half helmet? Is it a pair of diamond panties on her head? Its a mystery, you decide!

And finally we have Jeridel Banks’ entry, this DDN-tan, or green solace as she calls herself, is all about kicking ass as she is a NINJA! Yeah you heard right, and it gets better because this DDN-tan describes herself as:

“Yes, I am a ninja. I have many skills, but I never show my true potential unless it is necessary. I look down at stupidity and foolishness, which seems to be a disease plaguing more and more people today.
Personally, I would rather shroud my physical self in the darkness that I rarely emerge from, but it seems I am needed in your service. Although it seems that I am very serious and cold-hearted, I am also gentle and caring when I need to be. After all, I am still a woman…But do not take me lightly. I can be dangerous.”

She is a women all right!

Like most -tans you can find many versions of them and they are all equally valid, so in a sense all of these are DDN-tan, but alas, we must pick a winner! It wasn’t an easy task as opinions varied, arguments were shouted, glasses were broken and tears were cried. Everyone had their favorite and we were all hard pressed to back down but in the end only one of these lovely ladies prevailed. And that lady is GoDSh0t’s DDN-tan!

Congratulations GodSh0t, it was a close call but you pulled through! And congratulations to all the other participants, your entries made us all smile with glee when we received them. They will never be forgotten, they will all reside in a special section of the site dedicated to DDN-tan.
