Note: Since today its Luminous Path’s birthday we’re featuring an attempt by Pootie Chang to hijack OMB a couple of weeks ago. Happy birthday Luminous!

Sorry Luminous, Nahu, but after seeing the Yoshida Brothers play their shamisen, I had to put them up as our next Otaku Music Bit feature. Never have I seen such beautiful tsugaru-jamisen - kind of makes me want to pick up the shamisen. The Yoshida Brothers have debuted in Japan around 1999, and has continued ever since! They’re last work could be seen in a batch of Nintendo Wii commercials that aired around November last year, with the same song, but with an “Inside the Sun” remix.

If you watch and listen closely, you can hear and see the Western influences that are reflected in the Yoshida Brother’s style - most especially blues. Kind of reminds me Dueling Banjos.
