comiccon1 copy.jpgThis is the story of a young man. . .that tried to make his dreams come true. No, really. . .It’s just me on my 8th year attending The Greatest Convention of All (and the only one I’ve been too!): The San Diego Comic-Con International 2006, and I plan on telling what happened the day I went: Friday.

The hype started since Sunday for me, since I decided it was going to be the 1st time I’d go to a convention in cosplay-mode. I decided I’d go as a “casual” Bowser, since I only thought of making the SHELL, which is the thing that “protunds” when you think Bowser. So I went to buy some orange-yellow-ish clothes, 2 red-paint hair cans, and some super strong hair gel.

I got everything ready until Friday (the day I was going to go) but I managed to do it properly and clean.

I arrived at the entrance by 10:30. It was a good sunny day; not hot, a little of fresh air, but nothing to worry about. The registration process lasted no more than 30 minutes so I was indeed lucky.

I don’t really have the tendency to go to conferences, so I stuck for a while on the 1st floor, where all the selling happens. Upon entering the Great Hall, and as if Destiny itself wanted me to be there, the Nintendo Booth was just before me. I rapidly went there and saw Capitalist Magic: 90% of the people there were playing with their DS’s or with ones that provided them with demos you could play in multiplayer and videos of games to come like the new Star Fox.

I rapidly took out my newly-aquired DS Lite and started to chat play with other people via Pictochat. It was ok. As a curious note, I typed “4chan FTW” and some said “Hell Yeah!”. then I played some metroid and I trashed them all. If you were there, you gotta train harder, N00b! (j/k. . . on the train harder part). After some more battles I returned to the actual CON and made my way through the maze consistent of :

1. Booths

2. People

3. BIGGER People

4. COSPLAYS

5.. . .Pretty much it.

The day went on and about 6:30 I found the guys from Mega64, who were selling part 2 of their DVD adventures. I shook hands with them and encouraged them to keep up the good work!

After that the Main Hall closed and I ran upstairs to the anime sessions. 3 rooms showing anime all day until late 2:00a.m.. Sadly I only stood there up to 10:30p.m..

In Overall, it’s been the Comic-con I’ve enjoyed most, because of Surprise 1 and Surprise 2; also because I managed my time more and enjoyed the joy I cause on people when I passed with my Bowser Shell on. Some comments I heard worth mentioning here:

“Totally Rad, Dude!” - A fan

“Did you really do it alone?!” - A Skeptic fan

“. . . . . . . . . . .” - A plastic fan.

“ZOMG!!!1!!11!! 1 R3411Y N33D 2 T4K3 A P1X” - A Narutard

BTW, here’s some cosplay I could take a shot of:
