Today we have for you a special feature interview with GWX, the creator of a very unique site: Wii Game Ideas. For some months now, GWX has written and collected a vast amount of game and gameplay concepts for the Nintendo Wii. He has even tried several times to get Nintendo to listen up, sadly this has yet to happen. Now I should warn you, GWX (who asked to keep his name private) is quite the Nintendo fanboy, not a crazy one but still a fanboy. So those of you who are fanboy intolerant and/or fanboys of opposing factions in the console war might want to read this with discretion.
Who am I kidding…. most fanboys love getting angry at ‘the enemy’ so lets just get on with this.
DDN: What was it that sparked the idea for your site?
GWX:
Well this is an easy question, the Wii-remote of course. I mean after seeing Nintendo reveal it so many ideas went around in my head and It kept going and going. Then after this years E3 in may that was it even more ideas were swelling in my head. I mean everytime I thought about the Wii-remote I think about the way I play a game now, and then I think about what it would be like playing with the Wii-remote.
At first I decided that I was going to write down all the ideas in a notepad document, and then e-mail it to Nintendo UK. Well suffice to say I heard zip from them. Then afterward I decided to contact Nintendo USA through their online form. They actually replied to me, unlike Nintendo UK, with a robotic statement and said they don’t solicit ideas from fans (for many reasons), and if I would like to go to their official forums and discuss it yada yada blah blah. Well I actually contacted them more than once through their online e-mail form. The first time it was the same robotic statement about not soliciting ideas from fans. The second time it was the same again but then they added “for many reasons”, heh.
Well that wasn’t the end of it. I decided, you know what I am going to make a blog about this and then get a pool of ideas from other fans along with my own and see if we can get the BIG N’s attention. So I started a thread or 2 about it at gamespot forums and subsequently at the Nintendo UK Community forums and the blog just exploded with ideas from there on! I had no choice but to start a blog about the Wii-remote. Let’s just say my head finally popped and I just had to do this.
Its where you get to be Miyamoto and you try to take over SONY headquarters. heh heh oh boy, here we go with the “flames” :)
DDN: What has been the most original idea you’ve gotten?
GWX: Man, there are so many great ideas from fans on that blog, it would be a task to try to choose the most original idea. But, well, its one that would, how do I say this, cause a riot among fanboys. It is also the one of the most funny ideas on the blog, period. Idea 51: of FILE 8 from a user at the Nintendo UK community forums. Its where you get to be Miyamoto and you try to take over SONY headquarters. heh heh oh boy, here we go with the “flames” :)
DDN: What is your ultimate goal with this site? That which you dream your blog will accomplish.
GWX: Well this is the most easy question you could asked me. The dream goal is simple. Get these ideas into games that will run inside that the Wii console, that hopefully I will get to play and see my ideas actually come to fruition in a game/s. Simple as that. That would be the most awesome thing for any gamer don’t you think?
DDN: Any future plans for your site?
GWX: Well, the only thing I could think of is to make it bigger and better? Hopefully, I get a lot more ideas from others rather than just my own brain on the burner so to speak… I mean I do have a lot of ideas, and new ones pop into my head everyday I play games and everyday I just sit and think about how the Wii-remote could be used in games.
DDN: Finally, If your site was a flavor, what flavor would it be?
GWX:Hmmm now this is a tough one. I would think you would expect me to say Nintendo Flavour? But maybe I should say “NintenSPICED” or furthermore maybe its a “Wii” little dream with a dash of Nintendo fanboy? Heh heh.
DDN: Well, that would be it for this interview, we’d like to thank GWX for his cooperation and wish him luck with his blog, be sure to check it out at wiigameideas.blogspot.com.
GWX: Thanks for having me for this interview, I wish you luck with your site (although I don’t think you need it that much).
Once again we’d like to thank GWX for his time and invite you to visit Wii Game Ideas and consider adding one of your own to the list!
