Artists: We’re looking for DDN-tan! This is a call to all artists in and outside of our readership, after many months of having this idea we’re finally starting our search for DDN-tan, a character that embodies Dark Diamond. With none of our editors being able to draw a straight line, we are turning to the Internet to find her.Everyone’s encouraged to participate and all entries will be considered. DDN-tan will be appearing all over the place in the site so the creator of the winning design will enjoy the exposure of our readership, that is over 20,000 unique visitors a month with over 45,000 previews. A great opportunity for any artist.
So what exactly are we looking for?
DDN-tan should:
- Represent Dark Diamond in attitude and content.
- Be a female character (although this should be a given).
- Be inspired by the color scheme of Dark Diamond in her ‘official’ attire.
- Any props that represent another aspect of the site or of her personality are a bonus.
- A character writeup of DDN-tan is also a bonus but not required
Not only will the creator of the winning entry benefit from exposure but will also be offered a creative space to showcase their work, this includes although its not limited to:
- Usage of the character on news posts, features, columns.
- Usage of the character on the design of the site or any other material related to Dark Diamond.
- The possibility to create a small webcomic if the author wishes it.
- An opportunity to join the staff in other projects which require an artist.
- Our eternal gratitude.
All entries should be sent to nahu@darkdiamond.net, accepted formats are JPG, PNG and PSD. As of now there’s no deadline, one will be chosen depending on the response we have. There is a deadline now, May 30!
The fine print: The creator of the winning entry will grant permission to Dark Diamond, and as such to its owner Ivan Lozano, to display the design on Dark Diamond related material, create derivative works from the design, use the design in any other endeavors.
Basically this means you retain credit for your work but we have the freedom to use it.
If you have any other questions or need inspiration for your entry you can contact us in the comments or send an email to either tips@darkdiamond.ner or nahu@darkdiamond.net.
What are you waiting? Get creating, good luck!
Update: Ok, deadline for submiting stuff is May 30, best of luck to everyone!
