zelda manga

Always wanted to see Link in has manga form (and being able to understand what he’s talking about)?. Then the time has come for you! Viz Media (famous manga publisher in the US) will bring some mangas from the Zelda series on October 7 of this year.    As a side note, I have 4 of these mangas and they’re a pretty fun read, some in the normal manga form and others in a tankobon (4 panels per page, normally for comedic purposes). The Wind Waker manga is sure a must buy!  Better check your local bookstores around that date!

At least, according to the fine people at Shacknews that have seen it in action. Not only that, they were rather impressed, even given the unusually long development cycle. Reported were destructible environments, forklifts, dismemberment of limbs, environmental puzzles and interactivity, and plenty of Duke. Time to get excited? I doubt it, but at least we have a little more fuel for the optimism fire. And remember, always bet on duke.

I was saving this for later but I guess I’ll tell you all now. . . I stumbled upon this great Japanese movie and no, it’s not anime nor a J-drama; it’s the Pika Pika project (nothing to do with Pokemon, though). Here, watch it by yourself and see how you’re transported to another world, I could even say so literally!

Awesome, wasn’t it!? The process, in words of the creators:

We took a photo of each image using long exposures and put them together to make them look like one animation.

To work on this project,we went out to various places in Japan:parks, under the train track, the Tokyo Bay,school hallways, and so on.

We got all sorts of friends in different fields together to work on this project.
During the process, they got to know each other and discover new things. This is also about “communication”.
People can meet new friends as they create a piece art very easy which brings every one happiness.
We spend a very enjoyable evening at the workshop and the party through this animation.

Awesome! You want more? Check their Official Blog!

UPDATE: Its all resolved now, you should be able to access us without anyone telling you we are a danger to the internet at large! We’d still love to keep the internet terrorist cred though :3

Recently we had a little mishap with some malicious code that found its way into our front page via some embedded flash, it attempted to download malware into PC’s. Weak stuff that even the simplest of antivirus/spyware software should have blocked. We removed the code as soon as we found out, nonetheless we are deeply sorry and ashamed that this happened.

Seems like in this age of the interwebs you cant let your guard down even for a second, even Google has flagged us as a minor threat to the internet, we are like internet terrorists now and while that sounds badass its something we’re trying to fix. tskiller and myself are working on reviewing all of the website’s coding just in case. We hope to put this behind us as soon as possible. Thanks for your understanding and do give your computer a good scanning if you use Windows.

Again, we are really sorry and in need of a hug from you guys.

Son Goku

Oricon, a famous Japanese statistics company, surveyed 900 citizens from Japan. The question? “If you could turn into a main character of an anime series, who would it be?” The results (besides the more than obvious first place) were kind of unexpected in some places like Doraemon and Nobita, which kind of makes it a dull vote since Nobita is cool only (and only if) he’s around Doraemon. Oh well . . .

Check the list with character illustrations here.

smoking

Dan, a reader of DSFanboy, was a smoker. Dan also used to be a Pokemon addict back in the day, so Dan decided that to quit smoking he’d play Pokemon every time he wanted a smoke. So far he’s been going 40 days strong. Its all well and good, props to Dan, but somehow changing one addiction for another doesn’t seem right to me. The Grind might not pollute your lungs but it does something wrong, it chips away at your soul, one level at a time.

An ASU engineering student presents his capstone robot project, but instead of a boring, run-off-the-mill delivery what you get is perhaps the most intense engineering presentation you’ve ever seen. All of this done to the music of Gurren Lagann, using GL visuals and even paraphrasing the show. Sometimes anime works its way into everyday life, under the radar, and it works marvelously! It even begins with a little red robot.

I can barely listen to what he’s talking about but I’m still really excited, arent you?!

Sound test Saturday: Parasite evie The Parasite eve series was one of the worst kinds of series. You know the ones… Original for the company who developed it at the time, had potential, was decent, but was short lived. Parasite eve was one of Square’s most polished titles on the presentation front at it’s time of release. The graphics were hot (trumping the likes of Final Fantasy), the FMV was stellar and the music was seriously kick arse! For the music, we thank Yoko Shimomura. The lady who would be remembered for the now iconic Street Fighter II soundtrack and then rise in popularity many years later for helming the Kingdom Hearts’ soundtracks. Her work on Parasite Eve was was of the high quality you’d expect from her. Her compositions set the tone of the game perfectly. F**k knows what happened to the soundtrack for Parasite Eve II. I’m not sure if Yoko Shimomura even contributed to it, which would explain alot.

I present to you the battle theme from the first Parasite eve game. It’s hot, it’s funky and I’m partial to working a shoulder to it now and then.

This is so wrong, so very wrong on so many levels, yet its so compelling! I shouldn’t be liking this, and neither should you! Maybe we should just keep it secret and pretend we never saw this. I cant unsee it!

Thanks WaryWolf…. I guess.

real-gundam

$742,000,000.00 is a big amount of money but when you think about the possibilities of owning your own giant functional Gundam it starts to look reasonable. I mean, who’s gonna mess with you when you have a 60 feet tall robot? Takayuki Furuta, director of Japan’s Future Robotics Technology Center did the numbers and came to the $742 million magic number. Such a budget would get you a robot with $372 million in propulsion engines, a cockpit with panoramic screens and a hull made completely out of….. titanium. You know, because Gundanium doesn’t exist.

The man didn’t run the numbers in vain either, he plans to build one, not a 60 feet tall one mind you, but a much more budget conscious 13 feet one.

I stumbled upon a really interesting and satisfactory read about anime topics of today, from theories about DVD’s dying because of downloadable content, to the emotional scars you might have got (or been getting) at school for liking anime. It’s Hey, Answerman. Give it a read will ya? Your INT will go up +3, guaranteed. . .

The Japanese website of Shueisha’s Jump Square magazine announced a while ago that tomorrow (or today, depends on your time zone), April 4, 2008, they will publish a one-shot manga created by Masakazu Katsura, one of the masters of manga dramas and highly memorable love triangles (Video Girl Ai, DNA, I’’s) and action master Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball saga, Dr. Slump). I don’t know what to expect, maybe A love triangle between super-powered robot martial artists from the future that protect justice at night? Any way, I think it will be pure awesomeness.

Good news if you can get the magazine! Remember the name, it’s: Jump Square’s Supreme
