Just like every other blog on gaming related news out there, I’m here to bombard you with stuff on Super Smash Bros. Brawl and spoil shit for you in the process. We’ll get to the major spoilers later. But first, the intro to the game.
I know shit loads has been put into the game and that it’s had everything thrown into it but the kitchen sink (which is probably tucked away as an unlockable), but did anyone else find that intro boring? It’s just clips from the ‘Subspace emissary’ mode and clips of in game footage. It would’ve been nice to have had some brand new intro exclusive FMV and also some sound effects. But that’s just me being a fussy bastard. On a non moaning note, I absolutely love the Nobuo Uematsu theme song. A nice reminder of why I fell for his compositions in the first place, because I didn’t like most of the shit he did for Final Fantasy IX and X.
If you’d like to see who which folk have made the cut to duke it out in Brawl, then look below. I warn you, it’s spoilerific.

You might have heard about a minor scandal called Hot Coffee last year, or probably you didn’t since it was so low key, yeah right! Well the big sex-minigame scandal finally comes to an end as Rockstar Games reached a settlement on the class action lawsuit and as a result you, the concerned and psychologically scarred citizen, are entitled to up to $35.00 USD in compensation.
Great that will cover about 15 minutes with any psychiatrist! The lawyers, blessed be their charitable and philanthropic hearts, will only get one million dollars for their services. Can you smell that? No its not the smell of hot coffee, that’s the smell of justice, being burned down to the ground.

Oh i remember this game, it was a friggin’ weird experience. Why? Well, for starters, the Ren & Stimpy cartoons are weird as they are, sometimes they make you laugh, other many times they make you feel uneasy, be it the plot that makes you go “What?”, the classic and gross super-detailed zooms, or the thing as an attempt to destroy the children of the 90’s. Well, whatever the reason you decide, Nickelodeon thought it would be a good idea to promote the series on the video game universe, and surprisingly this franchise has 10 games on different consoles and handhelds. Way to go!
Although the SNES had more than one, Veediots is the one featured here on Retro Video. Why? Well, just because it’s the one I spent more time with and has a place in my heart. . .which I tend to keep locked tightly (*brrrr!!*, the memories!). It was developed by THQ in 1993 and as expected, the game consists of 3 random episodes from the series, one stage you’re Ren, the other you’re Stimpy. But fear not, even though they’re just 3 stages, they are difficult as hell! i remember I could barely beat the first level. Man, old games were so challenging it was enfuriating at times!
Here, evagames shows us the starting screen with the sampler of the second stage.
And just for the fun of it, here’s the ending. Now I feel good about never beating it, haha! (Video by Artificialraven)
A new RPG is set to release for the PS2 and Wii. Said game is called Baroque and it’s based on the manga of the same name. I’m not to sure what it’s about, but it seems it centers around people with wings, blood, psychotic breaks, odd ball characters and is all-round f**ked up really. It certainly wouldn’t be the first manga to be f**ked up. Half of them are. That’s what makes them so charming. Check out the trailer.
Baroque was originally developed for the Sega Saturn and then remade for the PlayStation. Baroque is very low key title, but it has a following. I doubt the PS2 and Wii versions of the game will be big sellers, but there is a crowd out there who are definitely looking forward to this game. There’s no word on if this game will release outside of the US, but given Atlus are behind the development and publishing of Baroque - it’s doubtful Europe or Australia will see this game. Seeing as Australia are still waiting for Trauma center: Second opinion and it’s sequel has no European release date despite releasing in the US last year.
Baroque is set to release on March 18 for the PS2 and Wii.
Boing Boing’s Mark Frauenfelder points us to the Monster Jam monster truck show in California which features this badass Donkey Kong monster truck. This baby sure beats the crap out of all those other Nintendo cars, specially that Pikachu Beetle.
Hmm Kong monster truck crushing the Pika Beetle, that’s my kind of Super Smash game!

A Chinese forum recently obtained some leaked shots from the Blood: The Last Vampire movie set. These images are all of high quality leading us to believe that they were perhaps meant for future magazine or online publication. Overall the film is looking quite good and looking at Giana Jun in full Saya attire is giving me hopes for this film. You should proceed with caution though as the photos may provide spoilers to the plot of the movie.
Sega have a new Tennis game in the works. Some of you may have been hoping for a new Virtua Tennis game, but instead you’ll have to make do with Sega superstars Tennis. As you may have guessed from the title, Sonic once again gets whored out like a sex slave.
I’m sick at the sight of Sonic right now. But as the proud owner of a Dreamcast it’s great to see Beat, Ulala and Amigo back again. Their appearance in their own respective sequels on Wii is long overdue. (Somebody please pass Sega the memo!) Other Sega superstars to make the cut are Virtua Fighter’s Akira Yuki, Billy Hatcher from the GameCube platformer Billy Hatcher & the giant egg and of course the under age bangin’ crew: Tails, Amy and Knuckles. I’m hoping that a couple more of the Dreamcast’s breakout stars will show their faces too. I’m rooting for the mice or the cat from Chu chu rocket, with the VMU being a secret character.
Sega superstars Tennis is based on Virtua Tennis’ engine and this alone has me wanting this game, because Virtua Tennis was robust and I absolutely loved it on the Dreamcast. We can expect some twists to the proceedings though, namely character exclusive special shots and power ups.
Sega superstar Tennis will be releasing worldwide in March for all major platforms. I think we know how this is gonna go. The Xbox 360 will feature the best online play setup, with the Wii version sporting some Wii remote action. Hopefully the Wii version will also feature online play, but it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if it didn’t.

I guess the title says it pretty much all ladies and gents. I have seen some of the worse things the Internet has to offer, gore, bizarre sex, medical oddities and even the Kutaragi unveiling of the Six Axis controller. Yet this video is the most disturbing thing I have seen so far! A near naked Japanese man picks up some wild poisonous mushrooms and then proceeds to cook them while wearing a horse mask and evil prog music plays in the background, it’s a sight to behold.
Oh god why? why cant I stop looking?! why am I so scared yet so intrigued? and why is the naked horse dancing Thriller? Oh god, why cant I stop playing this? What the fuck? Seriously, what the fuck?!

Portuguese gaming blog eNe3 has obtained some scans from the next Tales of Symphonia game from Namco Bandai which appeared on Japanese gaming mag V Jump. The Wii title, fully named Tales of Symphonia: Knights of Ratatosk takes place two years after the end of the last game. The scans don’t show much except for slightly revised models and a different camera style in cut scenes. The game is planned for release in spring on Japan and there are no details about bringing the game overseas but if its prequel’s success is any indication it will eventually come and quite frankly I cant wait, a good multiplayer RPG for the Wii is long overdue.

IN WIN, the computer case company has released a new case named The Conqueror based of a Gundam mecha. I have no idea if the case is actually licensed or not but its still a pretty cool case, from the website description:
A serene blue glow, cold aluminum, and metallic mesh all work to create a unique modern style, of a silent guardian who keeps global peace.
That’s right, this shady case will keep global peace, that is until your motherboard blows and the whole thing starts smoking and then you’ll be regretting the case wasn’t made with actual Gundanium!

Not that kind of playing with yourself though you perverts! Cursor *10 is a japanese flash game that simply gives you the task of climbing the stairs to the 16th floor, but can you do it without a little help… from yourself? Click the image above to find out!
It took me two tries to get it right, not a real time waster but a very interesting concept, I’d love to see this applied to other games. Imagine a SWAT-style game where you had to play every unit member in a time lapse to make a perfect strike on a bank heist. Sounds cool to me!
Earlier this month an Indonesian boy died after imitating the actions of Naruto Uzumaki, strangling himself with a belt. Indonesian authorities have begun a witch hunt of sorts against violent television. While I am sorry for the boy’s death and the grief it must have brought to his family, this is the Internet and when a kid dies from watching Naruto, its funny.
Indonesia is just beginning to air Naruto and its already has a death toll. While here in the west we’re finally getting over the whole Naruto disaster, we always knew there was something wrong with Naruto fans, I guess we just didn’t know it could be fatal, until now.

Its been some months already and we still cant get enough of portal, with the Weighted Companion Cube PC mod unveiled today and now GameSetWatch brings us this awesome list of the top 12 Still Alive covers. Its hardly the end all be all list of covers but it does contain some pretty awesome ones including the couple below which caught my eye.
First this one, aptly titled on the list as ‘Incredibly Awkward Bedroom Singalong’ and thats exactly what you get. Fret not, though, because when a cute girl donning a gothic lolita dress starts singing awkwardly it can be pretty awesome! I specially dig the electric wires as accessories and the look on her face when she picks up the gun, I almost duck for cover! Rock on CupcakeAndTea!
Now here is a very cool version made entirely using Gmod, few things as amusing as playing a giant piano by shooting at it!
Check out the list at GameSetWatch for the rest including the number one which is pretty damn awesome.

Famous videogame magazine Famitsu just gave the Wii’s long waited killer app. Smash Bros. Brawl. . .(insert drumroll here. . . .stop.) a perfect score, 40 out of 40 points. I know that myself along a lot of you fellow DDN readers, are waiting for this tremendous game of gargantuan proportions and impact to hit U.S. shelves. Oh I’m imagining it right now, the CHAOS it’s going to be in all the American continent.
On an interesting note, Brawl is the seventh game to receive a 40/40 from Famitsu. Ocarina of time was the pionner (in 1998), then the original Soul Calibur, along came Vagrant story, Wind Waker, Nintendogs and FFXII.
From all this, I can assume 2 things:
1. Nintendo-brand delays are “good” for us.
2. We’ll always be nintendo’s pet slave.
Fine by me, gives my a little more time to make some more money to buy mo’ games.

Japan’s cell phone charm craze finally combines with the otaku culture craze and no, this is not about anime phone charms, but actual otaku as charms. These are the Kaomoji dolls, small characters based on Japanese emoticons which depict otaku in every facet of their personalities. See them obsess over a manga, snap a photo of their favorite idol, buy gashapon (capsule toys) and even puke in a toilet. You can watch them do a crazy dance routine depicting a day in the life of an otaku in the following video.
Are they hilarious or what? They are also eerily reminiscent of my own life. Japanese emoticons are vastly superior to their western counterparts and the range of emotions they express is vast. Some even express emotions I’m sure I cant yet name. Surely you know someone who uses them, perhaps you do and at less than a buck each (100 yen) its an awesome gift for that emoticon obsessed friend in your life, mind you, the shipping and importing would cost you way more than the dolls but damn it if it isn’t worth it.
P.D. Yes, I am back from my unannounced vacation/time off, did anyone notice? I sure hope not! o_o;
