Brian Dugg of Capcom’s Lost Planet blog has just released this sprite of Ken in mid-Hadoken:

The Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix seems to be very promising. Everything about Street Fighter II is going to be redone, apparently, by the same people who did the Udon comics for Street Fighter. And from the looks of it, the graphics are going to be up to par with games such as Guilty Gear. Let’s just hope that the animation is as smooth as the Street Fighter III games.

Back in March we posted about Gorgeous Tiny Chicken Machine Show, the Youtube short that tried to immitate the wackyness of Japanese TV. Well now they are back with the second episode and a short music clip.

Both are still as funny as the first, which isnt much to you say but you at least get a laugh out of them, and it will probably be the knock knock song.

At least there’s still Kiko for the eyecandy factor! We’ll keep you posted if more come out.

This week’s Tuesday-tans features the much beloved otaku mascot of the Firefox browser, Firefox-tan (or Firefox-ko as she’s also known). Firefox-tan is as close to official as you can get, she’s known by a big part of the firefox community worldwide and she played a big part on Mozilla’s  strategy in Japan.

She comes in many shapes and sizes, from the cute chibi character to the loli and even to more mature and uh… furry versions. Firefox-tan doesnt have a standard outfit so you can see here in way too many presentations, also she has no apearance features that reflect the features of the browser. Although if you ask me I’d tell you she’s probably futanari and even a tentacle monster, you know, with so many extentions and whatnot. Enjoy the gallery and I’ll see you next week for a very, very special edition of Tuesday-tans!

From all the games I wasn’t able to play as a kid but always had that strange You’re-Better-Off-That-Way feeling, Ecco the Dolphin is #1. I mean, a game about a dolphin?! What are they gonna do next, a game about women that grow so much you have to shoot them down with helicopters?

Ecco the Dolphin was released in 1992 for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis. Ecco is a dolphin controlled by the player through a series of 2D aquatic levels. Developed by Novotrade International, and by a strike of chance, available to download from the Wii’s Virtual Console.

The story of this game, as weird as it sounds, is quite unique; in short, Ecco is: One of the last aquatic species from Earth, A Time-Traveler, and the savior of the world from Alien species robbing our precious water. Heh, I might give it a chance once i get my Wii points card.

Here is a very nice tribute to Ecco the Dolphin made by LitheFider; footage is from Ecco games on various platforms, from the Sega Genesis until its last sequel up to now, the Sega Dreamcast. Go forth, Ecco! And save us from water-stealing aliens!

No wonder dolphins were smart enough to flee Earth when the end of the world was near. At least they gave thanks for the fish. . .

The Korean open beta for Ragnarok Online 2 started today, the chance for all RO fans to see their beloved game in glorious free 3D. If you are among those who wanted to try well we´ve got bad news because sadly its only for Korean citizens, you need a social security number to play.

Still, if you are a Korean citizen or wish to try and risk being caught by the Korean police you can use the number of any Korean friends you might have. Oh but there´s also that whole thing about the entire game being in Korean, but I´m confident our reaedership is more than accustomed to playing games they dont understand.

Here´s a curious fact, did you know that Mega Man, besides being awesome at defeating Dr. Willy, was also a huge TV dork? No, I´m serious, just watch the latest video from the guys at Overtime Comedy.

Or maybe he had just defeated Pretentious-TV-Critic Man and gotten his… powers.

On this week’s Otaku Music Bit we take a look at the music of one of my favorite new series, Darker Than Black. The music of the series is made by my musical crush of all times, Yoko Kanno. And while neither the opening nor the ending are made by her they are still pretty awesome as you will see.

First its the opening, HOWLING by abingdon boys school. Its a solid hard jrock song with nu metal influences, a good enough guitar solo, engrish and even a cliche scream at the end.

Now we have the ending Tsukiakari by Rie Fu. A nice Jpop ballad with vocals that don’t sound like 6 year olds on extasis. The lyrics are very emotional so look them up if that’s your thing. Oh and there’s a cat in the video.

If you enjoyed the videos then give the series a try, its over nine thousand times more awesome. There is also a cat in the series.

Strider Cover.jpg

It was either this, or the cheese-inducing American cover

Year Released: Strider 1 (1989), Strider 2 (1999, like Prince’s preferred party year)

Platform: Strider 1(Arcade, Sega Megadrive), Strider 2 (Arcade, Sony Playstation)

Developer: Capcom

Back in the 90s, most remember Capcom as the company that made “Street Fighter 2″. While I did spend way too much time in the arcade for this game, another Capcom gem was entrusted to feed my continuing addiction of videogames. That sparkling chunk o’ rock in question is Strider.

A bit late on this news, but might as well give it to you guys…

Alright, so 20th Century Fox has decided to make a movie out of this popular PC game! Yes, they’re going to be making a movie about a game that is a simulation of every day life of a virtual person in a virtual surburban life! Boy, does that sound promising! And you know what’s even better? The screenwriter is the notorious Brian Lynch, known for spectacularly crappy Scary Movie 3! and the producer? John Davis of great box office horros such as Norbit and Eragon!

… You can tell I’m absolutely thrilled about this movie.

Joy - two hours of just this.

Trick is a Japanese dorama about a failed magician and a physicist who tries to figure out the tricks behind many people claiming supernatural abilities. From what I hear, the shows quite funny. So far, it’s spawned three seasons worth of television drama, and three movies. However, what’s really caught my eye is this obvious One Piece parody in the second movie:

Professor Ueda even says ‘Akuma no mi’ [The devil's fruit] and ‘Gomu gomu no’!

Pootie Chang

Sure, it looks a bit fan made but it’s still damn good! It’s so overdramatic that it’s hilarious! And come on, a flying baby headbutting a group of guys? Hit play to see what I mean.

Remember the Fresh Prince? So do I, the opening was catchy as hell wasnt it? Well the folks at Boredom Induced mixed it up with San Andreas to create this: The Fresh Prince of San Andreas, enjoy!

I always thought San Andreas could have used a little more dancing and Fresh Prince a little more Uzi action, now I’m appeased.

Thanks unnes!
