doraemon.jpgI know you. You’ve wondered to yourself more than one time “If this character existed I would be friends with him/her.”, I once did, and perished the thought before I returned to the Real World. Ranking Japan, a Japanese survey site asked that question to 300 persons in an age radius of 20~30 years. 1st place, the legendary Doraemon. . .

Here’s the list.

1: Doraemon (Doraemon)
2: Lupin (Lupin the 3rd)
3: Conan (Meitantei Conan)
4: Totoro (My Neighbor Totoro)
5: Son Goku (Dragon Ball)
6: Asakura Minami (Touch)
7: Sergeant Keroro (Keroro Gunsou)
8: Lum (Urusei Yatsura)
9: Ayanami Rei (Neon Genesis Evangelion)
10: Ryou-san (Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hashutsujo).

Deceived? Satisfied? what character would YOU be friends with? I’m thinking Vash The Stampede.

Patrick Macias attended Wonderfest a couple of days ago and he’s posted a load of pictures on the expo on his blog. For those who dont know its the biggest expo for model builders and figure otaku. There was even the appearance of a little friend we say a while ago.

But the best part was this short video of the doors opening for the first time and otaku rushing in like crazy!

Its like someone told them there was a girl willing to date them inside! Run, find her!

Check out the rest of the awesome coverage at Patrick’s blog.

Regarding the fact that Japan’s stuff is awesome most of the time, I find these cell phone straps to be really awesome. A Wiimote, A Nintendo DS, and different DS games in miniature form giving your cell phone that unique geeky aura that is needed to express your inner self.

Hope anyone that owns an anime import store sees this and considers bringing them tu U.S. soil…please.

You’re In luck, its early Tuesday and you’re already reading this week’s Tuesday-tans update! I think this is a first, I’ll make it on the DDN calendar of mythic dates.

Today’s edition introduces a severely under-appreciated Console-tan, its also our first incursion into the world of Portable-tans. PSP-tan is the sexy geek on the block. She loves movies, and ‘mature’ games, and even though she tries to hide it, she’s always carrying a small stash of porn, just in case, you know.

She mostly dresses in black latex/PVC clothes, which furthers her kinky image. Although recently she’s been seen dressing in slick white, camo patterns and even a very girly pink. This would lead you to believe her fashion sense is normalizing but then again, she’s also been seen wearing some very translucent clothes!

She’s always at odds with the DS twins (you’ll meet them soon enough) and unlike them who spend their time playing with little pets, cooking and generally training their brains, PSP-tan prefers traveling alone, playing sports, watching a movie and yes, checking out her stash of porn.

Seriously, I checked everywhere for more images of PSP-tan but there’s just no love from the fans! Its a shame because her design has so much potential, I personally love the one on top. So these 3 pictures are all you get this week, again if I find more I’ll make an update on her. See you next week!

Edit: Thanks Merrick for finding an extra, albeit small, image of PSP-tan!

Well, hello there! Long time no see, anime review! I plan to get you up to date more often from now on!

*Ahem*…I didn’t think I would almost forget one awesome series that made me have some affection for Mecha series (I watched the first 2 eps of Gundam Wing. . .sorry). Along with pretty catchy electronic music and rememberable characters(well. . . kinda), this anime has a pretty interesting plot. Come and see why you should watch it!

Aside from the fact that I have liked all the Fire Emblem games that have come to the U.S., I’m really enthusiastic about the next installment of this saga on the Wii.

Here is an intro video from the new Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn. It features smooth movement, pretty shota characters and odd probabilities of succeed. Ah, glad nothing’s changed.

The release date for this game on U.S. soil has yet to be scheduled, but there is a high probability of success, seeing the hype it’s been getting since the GBA releases.

To all of you Nintendo fans. . .they have finally done it. The legendary Zelda:Ocarina of Time is finally downloadable via the Wii’s Virtual Console at the reasonable price of 1000 points ($10). If you haven’t played this game, well, I don’t know in what African nation you’ve lived in, but if you’re reading this, shame on you! Go get it now and realize what makes the Zelda saga so special.

No, I’m not talking about one creepy lonely otaku being swarmed by sexy maids, schoolgirls, magical girls and nurses. I’m talking about a couple of otaku kicking ass Final Fantasy style! How, do you ask? Like so!

I was literally cracking up during the whole thing, its the dorkiest thing I’ve seen in months, and dorky is my bread and butter! The Phoenix Down is perhaps the high point of this sketch, who knew Sakura had the power to bring you back from the death? You just know that this could only go on inside the mind of a bullied otaku, and most of us have probably thought something along those lines at some point in our lives.

So its funny because its true, well except the part where the geeks beat the bully. In real life those guys would have beaten the shit out of those gentle otaku only to find that 15 years later in life they are chief engineers at Sony, developing the PS7 while this guys end up as janitors or worse yet, executive bosses at Sony.

Among the very few PC games I play (and own) there is one that has a place in my heart, not because it had awesome graphics or gameplay, or because it was just $10, but because I had only played the short 10-minute demo of this game, over and over again, and the local Wal-Mart wouldn’t have such violent, M-rated game. . .until it was 5 or-so years old, dammit!

Sanitarium’s the name, and it features some pretty cool cinematics (for that time, obviously) and a pretty unique storyline. The graphics are all gifs, and you just use your mouse (point and click, Alla Diablo). The game started with you all covered in bandages, inside a cell of a pretty creepy sanitarium. You start to investigate the surroundings but since it’s a Sanitarium, no one is helpful so now you know that you’re alone in this quest (quest for what? maybe to get out of there, for starters).

The music is creepy, the graphics are also creepy, and as ridiculous as it sounds, you only “battle” once in the game. . .with a scarecrow. Still, there are many ways for you to die, so be very thoughtful on what is the next thing you are investigating!

This video is just a potpourri of some cinematics of the game, showing the oh so sweet rendering of mid-90’s CG models.

If I made a top 10 horror games, this would be one of the top ones. I really recommend you this one. . .and don’t forget playing alone at night, with your window open.

I have heard from a couple of sources I respect that there will be an announcement made by Rockstar regarding GTA IV in 5 days. This really should come as no surprise as Rockstar has announced several GTA games in early march, San Andreas included as it was announced on March 1 of 2004. As much of a tradition it is and as much as I trust this sources, I’ll file this in the rumor file.

Its also worth mentioning that it has long been expected that GTA IV will take place in London just like the expansion to the first GTA game, London 1969. As much as I would love a British GTA antihero, I think I’ve had it with the retro settings. And lastly, its also rumored, but my sources wouldn’t comment on it, that GTA IV will make its way into the Wii.

5 days, get the countdown going!

Hana to Hashi brings us this awesome Japanese TV parody of Death Note. This time revenge goes the extra mile, death is simply just not enough.

As much as this cracks me up, I just know there’s an inflation fetishist out there pleasuring himself furiously to this. So much for laughter…

Booya, its the weekend once again and that means time for another Otaku Music Bit! This week’s edition is quite special, you will either love or hate it. Its Buck-Tick’s Dress, this song from 1993 was used as the opening from Trinity Blood, more than a decade after.

Its Goth, very goth, and I mean it. This is what goth music is all about, this is Japanese goth music at its finest! Its also very sexually ambiguous, which combined with the lyrics present in the animated OP makes me think that perhaps this song is a metaphor for transgender desires.  Yaoi fangirls and most Fujoshi will love this video, I just know it. I mean, the lead singer looks just like a typical shoujo alpha male. He looks like Hellsing’s Alucard after a CLAMP makeover

Well, rant aside, I leave you to enjoy this disturbingly enjoyable video.

Did you love it or hate it? Tell us in the comments and see you next week!
