Japan Probe brings us this really cool video based on what the famous Japanese dying game, Owata, would look like if it was a little bit more like MegaMan.

The great ending and listening to some of the best MegaMan music out there makes it worth your while.

Stop that train! This is a public service announcement. The Viz Media edition of the movie Densha Otoko: Train Man comes out next Thursday and while this might not mean much to those who downloaded the movie way back when it was subbed, you should be excited, there are spiffy extras inside. Patrick Macias doing the commentary track being the best of these.

Patrick, the otaku about otaku, comments the film along with a couple of other field experts (read: higher echelon otaku) discuss many delicious topics as he tells on his website:

We talk about Akihabara and the usual otaku poisons, how the whole Densha Otoko phenomenon could merely be a massive conspiracy on the part of the eeeevil Dentsu ad agecy, and even reveal the shocking truth about the Adult Video-only sequel to the film: The Kissing and Sex of Densha Otoko!

Oh lord, have mercy on us, awkward live action otaku porn, a must see!

While the movie has nothing on the Densha Otoko TV series, this would see me shelling out my cash before any other DVD this season. Kita!~

Alright guys, there’s a new poll on the site, this time we ask the question of what this-gen console-tan do you like the most? Is it PS3-tan, Wii-tan or 360-tan? Don’t forget to vote and support your favorite!

You wear overalls, grew a mustache, gained some pounds and even painted your whole room like the mushroom kingdom, and yet the illusion is still only that, an illusion. You need something to complete your escape from reality and into the Mario universe. Perhaps the key is in your ass. Now, riding a Bullet Bill would be optimal, but one cant always get the best. And with them exploding and killing, its just not worth it. So why not try the next best thing? Like this mushroom cushions from Strapya-World. Much more secure and comfy than a Bullet Bill and only slightly more phallic.

With Windows Vista just released it is our duty, nay, our pleasure to bring you Vista-tan as this week’s OS-tan. Since the Longhorn days the one thing surrounding Longhorn-tan/Vista-tan/Vistan has been diversity and struggle. There are easily over a dozen different designs for Vista-tan, with only two of them being actively popular right now at launch.

vista-tan7.jpgvista-tan4.jpgvista-tan10.pngvista-tan17.jpg

The one on the left is the most recent one, with a transparent Aero skirt and Windows media undertones everywhere. The latest theories calls her Media Center Edition Vista-tan. There’s an image in the bottom gallery with call-outs explaining her features.

vista-tan3.jpgvista-tan5.jpgvista-tan6.pngvista-tan9.jpgvista-tan11.pngvista-tan13.jpgvista-tan14.jpgvista-tan16.png

On the right we have the most pervasive design so far. A tanned girl with long curly silver hair and a sailor fuku uniform. Some claim this Vista-tan design depicts a Latin american girl instead of your typical American/Japanese ambiguity, this would be a first among the Windows OS girls. Another interesting fact is that Vista-tan has always carried a reputation of being a futanari girl, obviously as a result of the Longhorn name.

vista-tan12.pngvista-tan8.jpgvista-tan15.jpgvista-tan2.jpg

Not much else is known about Vista-tan’s personality at the moment, so its pretty much just pictures today, lots of them. Enjoy and see you next week!

One thing was fairly obvious when Nintendo came out saying that the Wii would use standard size DVDs, piracy would be taking it up a notch on Nintendo. And leave it to a few entrepreneurial geeks to come up with a functional Modchip.

This is the Wiinja, from the creators of the DS Micro Ninja. It loads Wii game backups on standard DVD-R. The video mentions the website Wiinja.com but it seems to be offline. Not to worry though because there’s already a second Wii modchip out there!

cyclowizsam.jpg

Enter CycloWiz, a Wii modchip. MaxConsole claims it plays Wii backups, GCN backups, GCN Homebrew software, and some sort of stealth mode. The website for CycloWiz, Teamcyclops.com, is just a splash page.

So we’ve got two Wii modchip and no definite proof of either, go internet!

sonycrash.jpgGamasutra reports that an estimate from five different analysts concludes that Sony’s third quarter profits could see a 50% drop from slow sales of the PS3. The culprit? Not the Xbox 360, thats for sure. These analysts blame the “unexpected” success of the Wii for Sony’s losses. Gee, while the success of the Wii has been above some expectations, anyone who was up to date with the industry and the gamers leading to the launch could see that the Wii was going to be big. It goes to show how well informed some of these analysts are.

No, its not the perfect date with your significant other, its the work of Alejandro Sanchez, a video showing old school gaming on a stop motion video with candles.

At last, a use for those cheap flimsy candles!

Thanks Noval

We’ve seen them before and here they are once again, mousepads with boobs. This time with a Dead or Alive Xtreme theme. A great support for your tired wrist, whatever the reason for their strain is. Lets just say the probably make this things stain resistant.

On my travels through the intertubes I came across this game by Korean developer Hanbit, the company responsible for the MMO golf game Pangya. Granado Espada is set in a budding 17th century civilization, and its expeditions into the new world.

Booya! Its Sunday and I just ran half a kilometer to save a cat trapped inside a car, more on that later. Its time for Otaku Music Bit! This week revisiting something we’ve already done (I was searching for fresh material but then I had to run to save a cat). Its Yoko Kanno with the Seatbelts yet again, this time performing What Planet Is This. Watch out for a dancing Yoko in the back, the woman’s crazy I tell you!

Oh yes, the cat is safe.

A group of French players and game hackers have released a program that allows you to make your own Phoenix Wright cases and stories. The editor uses a ROM of the game (which you obviously have because you bought the game) that allows you to run custom scripts. There’s a whole gallery of Phoenix Wright backgrounds and sprites for use and as far as I know there are plenty of story projects already in the works. Just dont watch in the official forums, those are empty.

bowserkart.jpgEuropeans have received a great game on the Wii Virtual Console, just because they live there. It’s Mario Kart 64. Yeah. That game that had endless fun to chug like a collossal cow. No matter if you were unexperienced or an expert at Kart racing, the place was always full of people, pizza and soda pops.

The price: 1200 Wii points. So, I hope they expand the availability of this excellent game towards the Americas. . .soon.

Super_Mario_World_Ultima_SMW1_Hack002.gifHudson Entertainment’s director of marketing, John Lee, while interviewed by Game Informer, lit the spark of a rumor involving Nintendo, the Wii, and downloadable games.

When asked if they were planning to release original content to the WII VIRTUAL CONSOLE:

Well, the VC was specifically designed to bring back classic games, not to introduce new content. So to answer your question specifically: No.

BUT

“However, in the future, you should rephrase that question to: Are there any plans to launch original content on some downloadable service on the Wii, and you might get a different answer.

and later, Nintendo was asked the question regarding original content:

“We cannot confirm at this time in what format the new content will be delivered, but in the future there will be original games available for download through the Wii”

So there you go, now with all the cool stuff Wii aficionados do with their Wiimotes and laptops, you can expect pretty good games. Unfortunately, there has not been any definite date for this channel to be opened.

harvest-moon-wii-1.jpgThat’s right, folks! a whole new Harvest Moon is on the works for the Nintendo Wii. Where else would you find farming, milking, harvesting crops and selling your food to be so much fun?

the graphics are obvioulsy made simple and with lesser detail than other Wii games, but it’s that simple and cute feeling which makes us want to play non-stop, like Animal Crossing or Maple Story.

Expect this title pretty soon on your Wii. Where sowing the crops will be a million times funnier.
