Patrick Macias, author and co-author of more than 5 books and an upcoming 6th, is currently working with NHK, Japanese public television channel, on a new show called TokyoEye. And for the next few days, he’ll be visiting some of the most prominent and unique maid Establishments in Japan. Best of all, he’s documenting his experience. From his site:
Amazingly, there is already another customer, textbook salaryman otaku-type, just to our right being worked over by a maid as we arrive. I try to imagine how this must look from his perspective. One second he is alone with the girl of his dreams, the next second, Candid Camera is setting up a lighting rig around some weird looking gaijin in a Famous Monsters shirt.
So far he’s been to Mai:lish Cafe and Maicure, a maid foot massage parlor. This promises to be a really cool series of articles, weather you are into maids or just love to watch the whole phenomenon from afar like a freakshow these articles should satisfy your morbid desires.

Krazy Kutaragi is at it again, this time making probably one of his boldest claims ever. When asked by MCV if he thought the competition could outstrip the PS3 he said “We do not care.”
He said “We do not care“, oh you dont care? Well, that certainly explains a lot, the uncompetitive price of the console and games, the lies to your fan base and on a level it kind of explains the whole giant crabs thing. In your mind you are a monopoly.
Oh Krazy Ken Kutaragi, that you can be in charge of Sony Computer Entertainment puzzles me to no end. Your antics and verbal diarrhea wouldt fly in any other industry, perhaps boxing, yes you could be the next Don King.

Its the weekend guys, so lets start with something mellow and easy. Last week we had the ultra violence of Ultra Relax, and that was frankly a little bit too much for my mind. This week I bring you a near lethal dose of moe~ (cuteness) with Onna no Ko Otoko no Ko, its the ending theme to School Rumble first season. Performed by Yuko Ogura dressed as Tenma-chan, the female lead of the series. Rainbowy afros and gaijin kids ahead.
Yuko Ogura is known for her stiffness and un-natural movements, the girl moves like mannequin, but it serves her right in this video as a schoolgirl. Ive watched this over 20 times this past 48 hours, by posting it I purge it from my mind.
Alas, what every DS gamer has been waiting for: a game where you touch girls. This game is called Doki Doki Majou Saiban, and produced by SNK. The plomt is crystal clear: You try to find hidden witches that have been roaming Earth lately, and you must touch them to reveal their charade! I really really WANT to try this game out.

Video Game webcomics are a buck a pound these days, from the really good ones to the ones that make you loose hope in humanity. So I wouldn’t normally post about a webcomic strip, but when an honest to goodness webcomic that isn’t about Video Games makes such a good reference to gaming, it must be known.
And Questionable Content, one of my favorite webcomics, pulled a great one on the latest strip. A Final Fantasy reference AND what seems like a FLCL reference in one? Sweet!

My brethren, we’re under attack! No its not acne and social ineptitude thats attacking us this time, its a band of organized muggers. Teenage thugs in Tokyo are indulging in a practice they call ‘Otaku Hunting’, police officers have arrested 8 of these muggers but so far there have been 25 reports of huntings since the year began.
One of these so called hunters said to the police that “Otaku are weak and they’ve got money, so we went after them”. Outrageous! This demands vengeance of geeky proportions. Someone code a Half-Life mod called Otaku Avenger, now!

Ever since the waning days of the N64 gamers have been praying to the gaming gods for another game in the Banjo Kazooie line. Now Rare has finally heard the geeky cries or yearning and announced that part three of the Banjo Kazooie universe is coming to the Xbox 360. There’s even a nifty trailer out there, watch.
I love the last part where the theme starts rocking out on a guitar. The character’s have been slightly redesigned but nothing that isn’t expected of a title that comes 2 consoles generations after. It looks very promising, but so did Perfect Dark.
Truth is Rare is a shadow of what it used to be, all the main brains have long left the studio. So its not unreasonable when I predict this game will disappoint and that is a sad thing. A spark of hope still shines in my heart, fueled by promises of the bizarre antics of a bear a bird and a voodoo priest.
And finally more details emerge about the Wii Opera browser. Rumors had been floating around the time of the Wii events this month. Some said that the Opera browser would be free while others said that you had to give Miyamoto a cock polish. No one knew for sure, but Shiggy did get some favors out of the confusion.
Now Opera has released information regarding how its going to work. The Wii browser will be free for download from launch day until June 2007. After that users can purchase Opera through the Wii Shop Channel, the amount of Wii points required isnt known as of yet. The press release also goes on to say that the browser will support Flash, AJAX (that means fancy web two point o), and “Bookmarks”. Yes, its in quotations so its a mystery what these “Bookmarks” are all about.

As a Nintendo fans, me and my friends have been juicing 90% of Mario games we own. We obviously tried Super Mario Bros. but never actually got to access the -1 world. but now, after watching this Famicom version of it, we might give it a try once more!
Floating Kalamari? I’m game.

The world of the 1940’s and all its film noir glory should be coming to a ‘next gen console’ near you sometime in the near future. Or says Rockstar games who just yesterday announced their newest project titled L.A. Noire. The game will be made by Team Bondi, a new developer studio based in Australia.
With no release date or named platforms for which its being developed, all we know is that the game is set on Los Angeles on the 1940’s. A post war era where gritty PI’s and femme fatales made the core of every story. So what did Rockstar have to show for this announcement? A mighty redundant trailer for the trailer. Its a 30 second clip that shows as much as the bathing suits from the 1940’s, which is surely what they where referencing. The full trailer will be released on October 5.

As a moderate Mortal Kombat fan, ever since I got MK:Deception ( 6 for the ones who actually count the series) I was astonished by the fairly long intro video showing some characters babbling some spells and wiggling their arms in all ways possible, attempting to hit the adversary, the story mode with crap dubbing, and the weird 3-style figthing.
Now with their new installment, MK: Armaggedon, they return, and with a surprise everyone was waiting for: ALL MK characters will be in it!
On a side note: Is that a Mayan temple in the background?!
I hope they get all 3 sub-zeros in action. Ha! Take that, timelines!

Nintendo recently told Mackenzie Investments that they will have one million Wii units available for launch. This isn’t only Nintendo’s strongest launch ever but also a launch that will deliver more than twice the units Sony will have with the PS3. While Sony might face some shortage issues and perhaps be unable to deliver enough units for the holidays, Nintendo seems less likely to suffer this.
The article goes on to mention some very frank comments on what Nintendo expects for this holiday season.
Capcom, in cooperation with WOWOW and Madhouse announced this week at the TGS that a 12 episode anime series based on Devil May Cry is on the works. A trailer for the series is already online on the official site. Although the trailer doesn’t really show much, it actually seems like a rushed video made from concept art just for he projects announcement.
Still, we’re hoping for 12 episodes of violence, gore and badassery!
