diana rule of rose.JPGOh to be a young creepy girl… its certainly advantageous. You get your own games, like Rule of Rose, who’s website launched just a couple of days ago! The website finally offers a small peak into the game’s story.

1930s, England. The year that marked the start of the age of the great zeppelins. A mysterious story is spreading among children in one town. “The park is dangerous after dark. You’ll be eaten by stray dogs. People who are eaten are confined to a zeppelin in the sky and can never leave”

Oh yes, thats the creepy fish-blimp from the trailer, this game sounds each time more creepy. Among other things you can download some goodies from the site, like wallpapers and icon packs. You can also check out the new famous trailer for the game. No fish-blimp wallpaper tho!

megatonIts been a long time since we last had a Nintendo Megaton, its high time for one! A couple of important magazines, actually both official Nintendo magazines, ONM (UK) and Nintendo Power (US) have announced that their september issues will contain a BIG Wii scoop. The magazines wont ship early for subscribers as they normally do, since an information embargo was set to September 1st.

Launch date? Apparently not, an ad on the last ONM issue promises an “explosive new Wii game revealed!”. Here’s the ad for you to ogle and theorize about.

megaton

And since a Bomberman title already exists the obvious game in question must be Bomb-omb’s magic land fun time extravaganza!!

Anything that gains enough fame with the otaku crowd is bound to suffer a little lot from it. Specially since one way or another someone will find a way to put crossplay and male nudity into the mix, always. And here’s a prime example, the opening to Neon Genesis Evangelion staring Kata. There’s even a side by side comparison. Fasten your seatbelts, creepy turbulence ahead.

Japundit brings us a prank from japanese TV, much like the sauna prank we had a week ago. There’s one thing that bugs me though…

What the hell is up with Mr. Hitler Mustache?

We’d been wondering what the hell did Nintendo mean by ‘Wii sneak preview’ on its emo-powered Fusion Tour. I personally believed that Nintendo would have playable Wii’s on display. Lo and behold, we were right! Even better, Nintendo is actually giving away a Wii or two! From the official website

Not only does Nintendo rock you with this year’s Fusion Tour, we’re turning up the volume by giving away Wii and DS Lite! Enter the Nintendo Fusion Tour sweepstakes now for your chance to win Wii and DS Lites autographed by Fusion Tour headlining act Hawthorne Heights.

While its unclear what getting your hardware signed by flavor-of-the-month bands will do to its value, its still an awesome chance to get some precious Wii time.

wii3d.jpgIndisputable god of 8-bit Football, Tecmo, has stated in its latest financial report that they will support the Wii’s Virtual console. Even more, they plan to support it “aggressively”, whatever that means. Tecmo developed the classic Tecmo Bowl and the original Ninja Gaiden. This is good news for Nintendo, many of the old giants of gaming are joining the ranks of the VC.. Playing Tecmo Bowl is certainly better than paying for the latest Madden!

tachikoma.jpgOut of all of the Ghost in the Shell cast my favorite character by far has to be the Tachikoma, or rather Tachikomas. hey are just the cutest most philosophical bellic vehicles ever. And now master Japanese robot makers have cooked up a miniature one.

Its 40cm high, 12cm wide and weighs 1.5Kg. You wanted pounds and inches? Get metric, bitches! Ill be damned, I just rhymed! Even the eyeballs move, here’s a couple of videos of the little panzer in action.

Japanese TV ads are super short compared to western ones. With 15 seconds in length you’d think they’d take every chance to get product screen-time. But no, a girl in a chicken suit is much much more effective. Thats Japan for you, right there. Well that and the Canon girl.

That would be an awesome ringtone!

Thanks SW

Resident Evil 5.jpg

The Wiire recently posted, in their lovely press release fashion, that a recent interview with Jun Takeuchi, Resident Evil 5 producer, if a RE:Wii was still in development. Takeuchi misunderstood the question and said that there was little chance to see RE5 on the Wii. Woa, what? That little is still much better than the ‘no chance in hell, cowboy’ we had learned to accept.

Later The Wiire contacted Ben Le Rougetel, from Capcom Europe, who told them that it was indeed a misunderstanding and that a RE:Wii is still in development. So, not only do we get confirmation that RE:Wii is still in the works, we also get a slim ray of hope for RE:5.

Breaking news, the female otaku (or fujoshi as they are sometimes called) market is getting bigger than the male otaku market! Housewives or not, fujoshi are a cultural phenomenon unto themselves. From Butler Cafes (like maid cafes) to cosplay nightclubs to yaoi doujinshi, its overwhelming. Here’s a two part documentary on Fujosji and Otome road, which is the equivalent of Akihabara.

Why doesn’t someone match them with male otaku? Easy money, I’m moving to Japan.

thecomplex.jpgMachinima is becoming quite a busy field lately, with tools becoming every more accessible to creators we can enjoy such delights as the G-man prancing around a mountain of TV’s. Machinima allows us to indulge ourselves in the pleasures only old time aristocrats could. Minus the opium, most of the time. But virtual jackassery aside, there are some projects out there that show much more depth and elaboration. The Complex is one of them.

The AV Club (yes, like that bastion of geek culture) has been gearing up to produce a live Machinima show. Using Valve’s Source engine they have created a group of sets where they can perform their live shows. The Complex is based around an apartment building, and may or may not contain recipes for cooking headcrabs.

A new Unreal Tournament 2007 trailer is up online, this time its not just cinematics but actual gameplay. It looks awesome, also it seems some weapons are taking back the style of the original UT. Vehicles look awesome and… oh, whats that? hovering skateboards? Freaking Back to the Future skateboards? I’M SOLD! Yes, because I’m cheap like that.

nintendo_wi_fi.jpgJoystiq reports that hidden at the bottom of an IGN preview for Tony Hawk’s Downhill Jam are some terrible news for the Wii launch line-up. Apparently Nintendo doesn’t plan on releasing the software libraries necessary for 3rd parties to include online functionality into their games. The IGN article said:

Gamers hoping for an online component, however, are in for bad news, because one isn’t planned. Activision would not say why, but IGN has separately learned from multiple development sources that Nintendo will not release Wii Wi-Fi Connection libraries to third parties until early 2007, which means that no third party launch title will have an online mode.

That really comes as a shock, not as big as the PS3 not being in production yet, but still quite a surprise. The online component for the Wii is without a doubt one of its major assets. I’m reluctant to believe that Nintendo has not released said libraries to anyone, perhaps a special deal with some developers? I hope so, otherwise this is a kick in the gut to the 3rd party launch line-up

The trailer for Moegaku, a dating sim with a dark agenda: teaching japanese otaku some english, has been released unto the net. The 3 minute trailer introduces you to the main characters and some gameplay elements, pretty standard stuff. Except for the voice acting, for being an english teaching game I sure cant understand a freaking english word they say! Here, we borrowed it from the official site, YouTubised for you!
